No, those reviews are not true. Some players recently review bombed the game with negative reviews and wrote things like that because updates are taking a while to come out and the team hasn't been communicating much lately. They're upset, lashing out, and trying to harm the game and/or the developers for some reason.
It's happened with this game before so some of those reviews might be older. There seems to be a small group of people who have some kind of vendetta against the game and the people trying to make it. Read through the forums a bit and you'll see what I mean.
There are reasons for the slower pace of development that may also be linked to why communication has been minimal. There was a lawsuit between the developer (Small Impact Games) and publisher (Team17) that has since been resolved but the players don't know much about that.
Team17 made major changes recently and there were industry wide changes in the last year or so, both of those things affected development.
SIG is a very small development team and this is a very ambitious project that sold a lot more units than expected, the larger than expected influx of players even caused some issues. The core team was initially only three people coding and a couple artists with some other support staff like community managers and QA testers and the team hasn't grown much since that time, they added a couple more people including one more coder. There's an interview on YouTube with Cameron Small, one of the lead developers, where he talks about the impact of the sales numbers and what they actually expected.
TY for info. So although game not "abandoned" deffo sounds like there are some external factors that are going to continue to really effect this game
Shame really. Playing Delta Force kinda makes me want to play marauders again cos it feels better as extraction game imo
Sigh, il just wait on arc raiders to save me I guess
Yes, the other guy (BatarianSOF) did explain what he spoke about very well but he did not say that the developers did not try to fix some of the core issues, he said only that Retribution didn't deliver on some of the things players had requested. Remember - I was involved in that thread, too. Here's the post:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1789480/discussions/0/4635988779091445737/?ctp=2#c4635988976587551754
What he said was, "A big part of the Marauders community wants big meaningful changes like a rework of space combat, overhaul of the progression systems and more QoL. And Retribution simply did not deliver that."
That statement does not mean the developers won't try to fix issues or didn't try to fix issues, only that those things he mentioned weren't addressed in the Retribution update - but they will be. For example we've been told that a rework of space combat is coming and that's one of the big things people have been requesting. BatarianSOF will also tell you the same thing so if you don't want to believe me then go ahead and ask him.
Looking at the charts on the SteamDB or Steam Charts website absolutely will not help anyone understand any of the issues, all it shows are player count related details.
You think it's maybe dead, maybe not dead? Nope. It is definitely not dead.
Why?
For about the 100th time on this forum I'm going to say this and I shouldn't have to because it's just common sense but here we go again - the game won't be dead until development stops, people aren't playing it at all, and the servers go offline. Currently development is ongoing, people are playing, and the servers are online therefore the game is not dead.
I would imagine it will be. They've probably been working really hard after managing all the "speed bumps" that they had to deal with behind the scenes.
Hope so!
Hi! We haven't received any news about the update, and we are really hoping to hear some good news soon.
As said above, game is still being worked on in a studio with devs. Legal ♥♥♥♥ has slowed down the output and silenced the update info, for now.
They deleted my message too dont worry
Well, early access isn't for everyone but it's certainly not a "scam on yourself" if you choose to support games that are in early access. Make informed decisions based on facts and you'll be fine.
if they put the same effort into the actual game instead of policing the forums and discord we'd have a tarkov competitor by now
1. Steam moderators exist.
2. The developers that are actively working on the game do not police these forums or Discord. They have hired community staff members to do that for them.
3. We have a Tarkov competitor now but it's in development. Patience. It'll get there.
Nope. See above.
