1.0 Release should of course wipe all advantage you would have over a new buyer
Tarkov has no prestige
Those who buy early access usually are aware about those things. , Right?
this is not a alpha or beta stage.
Fortunately this isn't the case. Looter shooters like these thrive with a reset system. Let's imagine the game without a regular wipe schedule in place. It's great at first! I get to keep all my loot I've stashed up and all the ships I've built and enjoy flying!
Then my friend wants to join in. Will they need to grind for gear like I did? Surely not, they can use all my extra gear and use my extra money to help them get by! What if I don't have a friend with 100s of hours already, but I want to buy Marauders and get stuck in? Will I have to fight my way through 1000s of very well-geared and confident players to achieve the same things they did?
Now imagine the game with a wipe schedule. Every so many months, the game and all it's players are put back to a level playing field. Everyone is at the same stage once again and no one needs to boost/grind through missions as everyone has equal chances until the next wipe.
I hope I've articulated my point well enough to sway your mindset, if not I suggest you look for a solo RPG experience rather than a risky extraction shooter!
It's in beta now, we have 12 to 18 months (or more) before we leave beta and see version 1.0.
They don't plan to wipe anything after the game is released, but during early access they will wipe if necessary. They talked about it on a Q&A session a few weeks ago and said they'll give us plenty of notice before wipes occur.
You really have to expect this sort of thing with early access games. There may be situations where they have no choice but to wipe progress.
except everyone already resets themselves prestieging.
That raises a different point entirely. Optional resets and forced wipes are different things. If someone decides to personally reset their progress back to level one in the middle of a "wipe" to challenge themselves is a different discussion to "Everyone will reset on X date together"
At the moment there is absolutely no incentive to prestige other than cosmetics and inventory space. If you'd like to gain those things and play against thicc bois for the rest of the reset then be my guest! My point is, not everyone will, compared to a forced communal reset.
Tarkov also wipes, though? I don't understand what conclusion you're coming to
