Steam Deck Performance Impressions (OLED Model)

The game does not run out of the box, but with some tweaks it runs great! I'm on GE-8-24, as newer iterations crashed. Settings wise: High graphics preset, 90% resolution scaling, 45hz refresh rate fixed on the deck itself. I have no information on battery performance, but hopefully this is enough information for those looking to pick it up on the deck.

UPDATE: :The game ultimately crashed after ~1hr of play. It is quite responsive at 45hz all things considered. Here's hoping we get some stability after a patch; a portable Top Spin would be a dream.

Tested and it worked.

So if you go offline the game don't crash but you can't play anything else besides exhibition matches. After you go online, it crashes.

Stupid DRM ass. Can't believe we can't play MyCareer cause this.

Try again. Dont go online right away. I played and it worked.

Looks like early access, best tennis since top spin 4, but full of bugs, doesn’t switch to gpu on laptops, messed up on deck… will get better in a few months i hope…

I just played 4 matches online with the Steam Deck, on exhibition mode. I restarted the game between each match to test if there was an issue after restart, but there weren't any. I still have some texture issues, particularly transparency problems, but in low settings I was at 60 FPS (40 FPS for cutscenes). I had 2 crashes though, while replay in local exhibition, and while matchmaking.

They will fix opponent transparency soon. If you tell me that it works online on the deck, that's good news (wwe, on the other hand, doesn't work online on the steam deck).

I am using Proton Experimental, in case it helps.
But maybe tomorrow I won't be able to play this game anymore, I don't know.

Because lots of Steam Deck users reported that they were playing relatively well (appart from graphics issues) and after reboot or the day after they were unable to launch the game anymore.

On Proton Experimental it works well, apart from the rendering issue. The game runs ok, if you turn down the rendering resolution in game to 80% you get steady 60 fps during rallies. Expected it to be a lot worse, based on what i read here.

Guess I celebrated too early, same problems as others described. Constantly crashing when you try anything online. Can only play the game offline now. Turning on wifi after startup instantly crashes the game.

Can confirm I'm able to play in Offline mode, but as soon as I turn on Wifi and it tries to log me into my 2k account, the game crashes. The game also crashes if you launch it in Online mode.

Shame because most of the features require you to be online, and if you play Exhibition or Academy (the only offline options), you also don't get the rewards since you're offline.

2k needs to fix this asap

I hope they will correct because if all Steamdeck users are in a list of cheaters... it will complain

I am wondering if the Steam Deck users who can't play online created a profil MyPlayer.
I didn't create any MyPlayer profil and I can still play online, I never had any problem so far after 10 matches. Maybe after creating a MyPlayer I will be forced to play only offline.
