BUG: Create MYPlayer game breaking Issue.....

In Create MYPlayer/ID tab, when I select first name or last name I am unable to input any name letter characters at all, it's just a blank text field and when I try to type a name using my keyboard it simply "Dings" a warning tone and then when I come out of that and select to create MyPlayer a warning box appears telling me the max and min limits of MyPlayer first and last names and simply won't go any further.

As it stands I cannot create a MYPlayer Character for the game because this bug won't allow me to enter a first and last name for my MYPlayer Character creation.

Are you using different controls for the name as you do the rest of the game?

I simply selected the Name field with my PC- XBox controller, it selected okay but no virtual keyboard or anything appeared as you would expect if I was going to enter a name with the controller, so I tried typing with the keyboard and a warning ding sounded and then the warning box telling me the min to max characters needed to enter a name. and it would not let me type any character at all in the name field box so I ESC out of it and simply tried to press the "X" button on my controller to create character and again that warning box came up basically telling me I needed to eneter a name for MYPlayer character before I could create it, hence I cannot create a MyPlayer Character because I cannot enter a first and last MyPlayer Name.

Nothing to do with using different controls, both keyboard and XBox controllers are compatible so shouldn't make any difference whatsoever and if it does then that in itself is a BUG.

The STEAM Overlay doesn't appear unless it's activated, which I didn't. Besides it's obvious when the STEAM Overlay is activated.
You're appear to be clutching at straws mate.... this is a bug whatever reason it is this should not be happening at all.

I'm taking a guess, for sure. On console, the system keyboard appears rather than an in-game one, so I'm imagining there's a Steam variant too, perhaps via Steam Overlay if it's allowed to activate. People have been unable to do in-game purchases for the same reason.

So, call it "clutching at straws" if you like, it's the only way to try and help if there's no official answer. You don't have it activated, apparently, so maybe try it? You're the only one who has brought this up so far that I can see which suggests it's not a universal bug.

If it doesn't work, send in a ticket to 2K Support.

you are the first to have this bug, if it really was a bug, the forums would be overflowing with messages.

If this was so then surely the devs should say that the STEAM overlay needs activating, or indeed, the game itself do the checks and activate what is required to actually operate the game.... poor design and programming if you ask me, and I'm a dev too.... this stinks of issues caused by pretty much copy pasting an old program into a modern computer program environment without going through the code thoroughly to make sure everything works as it should given the corners they are cutting with this game in many ways.

The fact that I'm currently the only one reporting such an incident in setup doesn't really surprise me, but that doesn't mean I'm the only one with this issue either.... where there is one it's usually the tip of the iceberg and could simply be that people have seen it reported so can't be bothered to speak-up themselves.

But whatever.... I'll open support ticket as this forum appears to be rarely seen by the devs anyway.

I had this issue, just use your mouse to click into the box, then type with kb. Thats what worked for me
