Even if it's a limited selection of "Friend Missions" with their own reward, or if it makes progress towards mission completion accumulate more slowly.

The expectation with this game was that I'd be able to get the most out of the game just playing with friends, but I can't complete quests without playing with randoms who will stomp me 9 times out of 10, whereas I'm on an even skill level with my friends. Being able to quest to gain tokens or Baba rewards would be much more fun with my actual friends even if it went more slowly.
