Honestly, the game looks great. I love the style and mechanics and cannot wait to get my hands on it.
The fact that even the developer responded just makes me cackle lmfao
Either way this person is either a troll or deep in their own delusions. The best thing anyone can do is stop engaging
Usually when a developer responds like this they are uncertain on how to handle the situation or trying to cover up something.
The correct response to an accusation like this is "We are not promoting hate and we believe you are misinterpreting on the game we are offering to the world. Yada yada yada this is what our game is about... yada yada yada".
I had the same similar developer response on the twitter of "we are sorry you feel this way, please check out our other products". Which in my stance was pretty damning on what I was pointing out.
Now... granted there is a small slim chance of a possibility that none of the employees are actual furries or just have no inkling of an idea of how much "Trash talk and ♥♥♥♥ talk" the furry community gets from normies aka for short BS drama; however... you can't just sit there and say; we've been making animal games for 10 years as a defense argument. Everyone has been making anthropomorphic or talking animal content for decades from children story books, to pass history in describing social stances in a community, to movies, to video games, ect ect.
Its most likely going to boil down too..., can you describe why you feel this game is hate and what about it makes it a hate game for normies to support. The problem is... even if I did describe the situations of all the "Stereotypical" terms that normies have come up with over time to trash talk and discriminate against furries; would cost them too much money and resources to change the game in time.
The other concern is that this thread was only directed to the furry community, unless this was your targeted market in the first place to generate money, then this was a very poor marketing plan to begin with because even though its a "shoot em up" game; like... you will Never Ever generate enough profit as your main competition is Fortnite, Super animal royale, and similar card strategy games that try to copy Slay the spire. So... this is where... the legal action starts taking place as they could try to sue me that I alone caused them irreparable damage to their marketing and reputation and that's when things get really ugly. I hope it doesn't come down to this but... its not looking good as if it wasn't this the case; the developer would had just locked or deleted this thread and moved on.
Time will tell I guess.
Edit: I also forgot to add that there are 2 other free 2 play games that offer the same similar "shoot em up" such as "Murder 4" world with VRchat and "Among us".
Dont want a lawsuit on my hands and... I really dont want to give a lecture on how to fix this mess yal created because you didn't do your homework on how the differences between communities has clashed over time so... here's the only solution for this whole thread to be "mark resolved" and locked.
However many furries you created for the character selection, you make that many non-furries to match the roster plus five.
In example, if you have 8 furries modeled and ready for character selection during launch; you make 13 non-furries to match it. Since obviously you wont make this demand in time even with crunch time; the easiest solution is DLC.
So... in example start with 3 furries and 5 non furries during launch. From then on focus on DLC packs.
DLC #1: Two non-furries + One furry & new pvp map.
DLC #2: One non-furries + One furry & new pvp map.
DLC #3: Three non-furries + One furry & new pvp map.
DLC #4: Two non-furries + Two furry & new pvp map.
"DLC Season Pass" for those that dont want to deal with individual purchases.
Finally, you would need to edit the trailer of this game to have a mix match of the furry and non-furry characters being revealed with a new in-game clip showing mix matches of characters instead of them being all furry.
Doing this will pretty much dissolve the entire matter at hand then your QA team can focus more on PvP balancing.
Your welcome.
You could have just said you hate furries, OP. No need for the smoke and mirrors act. Have some backbone.
Not at all.
I just didn't want to spend hours of my time explaining how bad the trailer was in its subliminal messages to promote the hate game based on its presentation, color use, art style, and other things. Because then the developers would ask for sources on what they did wrong then argue that their creation doesn't represent that and not change anything.
So I took this approach. I didn't ask them to remove their furry character roster that's ready to launch just move some of them to DLC and then add a bunch of non-fur characters so it seems less obvious on what their intent was. Think of it as a Fortnite roster with their character list; its all over the place with no real purpose.
On top of that, if they do add non-fur characters, they would have to remove some of the really gory violent animations to compensate with the managed resource time. Then modify the trailer to reflect the new characters; completely changing the message and theme shown in the previous trailer.
I personally still want to bit ch slap the developers for making a hate game but as you've seen in this thread; most people don't see what I see thus makes it harder to build my case. On top of that ignoring this entire bit, making a "shoot em game" with furries only; is bad marketing to begin with. Most normies find furries and furry related material extremely cringe and so... if they want to make any money to profit on confused, lonely, hornie, and psychological crazed teens or younger; they need to change its approach so it seems less cringe.
Like I said, they are not changing the core of the game just a character roster and trailer modifications and this pretty much closes this topic permanently.
- It doesn't just have to be humans it could be anything. aliens, robots, cyberpunk themed mutants, ect ect; just go wild with your character roster like how Fortnite does with its meme characters to lure in stupid kids for them to waste money on.
However seeing that you are using the humanoid model for animations; you're kinda stuck in sticking to that size as anything smaller or super large might cause bugs and clipping issues when balancing PvP matches.
- Also I did rewatch the trailer, if you have any plans of adding any customization to looks and weapons; this could be your incentive for a battlepass if you have any plans for online matches. If not, incentive for mini DLC skin purchases.
- One other thing I noted in the trailer is that what few in-game moments was shown, you got too many "furry art ads" in the background which is kinda distracting; if you do add non-fur characters; just replace some of them to reflect that change.
I'm a huge sucker of reusing content and/or not scrapping content when it comes to developing in-game housing or decoration so... whatever furry art you do remove from the background to re-balance the look; you can still use it in a different way like floating newspapers, magazines, posters; or... you could make it into a silly yet simple collection reward based on ranking where people can view in the gallery. This way the artist you paid for to create this, can still show off their work. Simple fix.
I was super sure he was trolling before, but now I see it was way more pathetic. Maybe leave furries out of it next time and just DM a dev or something.
Game development isn't as simple as, "okay, so I'll just put this in, now," especially when the groundwork is already set in stone. It's just a PVP FPS game with deck building mechanics and anthro animals as the playable characters and that is how it shall stay because that's clearly what the devs want.
Pretending to be a furry because you want human characters added into a game that had no intention of including human characters in the first place is not the right way to go about this sort of thing. If you really want yet another shooting game where all the characters are human, play most any other shooter on the market. Or learn game dev yourself and make what you'd want to see and let the rest of us who like how this game looks, enjoy it.
(-.-) ...
Really not sure how to respond to this but the developer's dont have to do anything I suggested at all!
- Also it wasn't imaginary; I'm just sick and tired of video games that prey on young adults/teens/children that everyone goes through, during the physiological meltdown when they journey into adulthood in trying to grasp on reality. Its been a proven fact that during this growth stage; young folks are really crazy and are easily manipulated to get money from. If anything when I saw yet another game doing this and yet another furry themed game to add on to it; I kinda snapped. A lot of us older furries just get sick and tired of being viewed as degenerative, lazy, slacking, tax dollar wasted on, ect ect thorn to society; by normies so...
If I really wanted to shoehorn my idea on this game, I would tell them to cancel the game but like all human beings, they need money to survive so... fat chance that would happen. Also they really can't drastically change the game as other people have tried to make video games to make people more "aware" of their actions but those products do not sell.
USA hollywood movie corporation is a good example of making historic older movies in the past to become aware of certain bad things happening in real life but... no changes happened to help human society to become better people and failed to get any profit when spreading the good message so... they stick to extreme violence, gore, horror, and heroic themed movies to make a buck.
I been following this thread since it started a few days ago. Before I thought you were a troll now I think your a kid who doesn't know any better. How is "among us" anything like a shooter deck builder? Also if you think this game is hate on furries. How do you feel about looney tones and Tom and Jerry? Are they hate speech as well? Oh and don't forget happy tree friends... NOW THAT IS A FURRY SHOW ILL WATCH!
Like most of the comments i seen on here done by you. you easy just avoid the topics where you have explanations on. so i will say once again. how is this game similar in any way to among us? you brought it up so you must have a reason that i am interested in hearing. But i will say happy tree friends is 4000% more violate then this game. yet this game is a issue... so how is that ok for furries but this game isnt?
