Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022

Trainz 22 PE (Standalone) Save System is Trash
Whoever designed the save system has no idea what they are doing. I had over 2 hours of landscaping completed, I saved a new session for the route, and when I went back into it EVERYTHING was gone that I just built. There is no cloud save, there was no crash, there and there was no error. The save system in Trainz 22 PE standalone is absolute trash. Oh and for the record not even the backup recovers the work I just completed.

No one at N3V seems to care about this because I have brought it up in the past that it really needs a better save system. They ignore the player and refuse fix what is broken (the subscription payware is all they push for. I have logged 843 hours in this game since buying it September 22, 2024, and I will no longer support, recommend, throw away more money on DLCs, or continue wasting time on this hack of a sim until such time the N3V completely overhauls the save system. I will also have to take a financial loss for my 1 year First Class Ticket I bought in October 2024.

Congrats N3V you've lost me as a customer. Next time take your players concerns and feedback more seriously.

You need to make sure that you choose "Edit Route" and not "Edit Session" otherwise when you delete that session everything will be lost

If you have no deleted the session, that's a bonus. View Sessions for your route and choose edit session on the recent session you have saved. Now, you will need to merge the session layer to the route layer re-save your route as a New Route + Session. This option only works if you have not deleted the session

I was able to get what I had worked after I had to revert every change that never got saved, it still does not undo how much I can't stand the save system. Every time this game has crashed hard (meaning back to the desktop) a lot of items break. Things like ATLS switch to OFF, TRC signals lose connection to the triggers, things like the industrial tracks break leaving only the arrows, and the water layer regenerates in areas that it should not be. TRC and ATLS items are not N3V's issue I understand.

Things related to DLS are current (some are not but there isn't as easy way to replace old with new without remnants left behind, and trying to find them is even worse because the DLS is poorly designed). Anything outdated or obsolete should be purged from the DLS to prevent breaking the latest versions, or just archive the older items for those on T:ANE, or older versions outside of the DLS/ Content Manager).

Yeah I regret not buying Run8 or Railroader instead of wasting money on Trainz 22 PE. I bought it because I wanted to build my routes (which is the Sim City guy in me), not play an arcade (TSW is an arcade), and just have fun.

No game is perfect, but customers that pay for things expect updates across all products that are in rotation.

843 hours was a good run for me, and probably beats out any game I have dedicated time to as a kid and young adult in the 80s and 90s. I know the fan boys and girls of Trainz will defend against my complaints, but N3V won't get money from me again or recommendations. I guess losing one customer and reputation matters not to them.
