Please ensure that you don't have any messages or other windows appearing when you start Trainz, as if Trainz is minimised (either by you, or by another window opened at the same time) then it will revert back to windowed mode. Some anti-virus or firewall programs may sometimes display prompts when Trainz is started, which will cause it to change to windowed mode.
Otherwise please try pressing ALT + Enter on your keyboard to switch between windowed and fullscreen modes.
It is worth noting that while we cannot currently provide fullscreen resolution options above 2560 wide resolution, windowed mode simply adapts to the resolution of your desktop. As such if you are using a 4k screen with a suitable resolution, then in windowed mode you will see 4k resolution. However it must be noted that using 4k resolution can impact on performance, and may cause the interface to be smaller than at lower resolutions.

It should be noted that no one wants to see a game run in "windowed" , even in 2022 "Windowed Fullscreen" has been pretty normal. Come on man. This is so depressing to see this game looking so damn pretty but then to run it in a resolution that doesn't look cartoony on 32:9 I have to look at an ugly application border the entire time.
