Way to edit difficulty settings mid run?
Does someone know of a way to edit difficulty settings in this current version? Long time ago I remember I went to appdata folder and just changed it there, but now when I do it in its file the game just overwrites the files on a save load. When I set the file to read only the game doesnt save changes to the file unless unchecked :Sadclot:

Alternatively can we just get the option to change difficulty as we see fit? Id love to tweak my settings mid runs when they feel to easy or too difficult.

You're close. You want to set it to read only. Then run the game (and Load, do not Resume as Resume sometimes doesn't work). Then while the game is still running (you're in the Bunker), set your save file to non-read ony (writable). That has always worked for me :-) (and still does as of the last time I played, a week or so ago).

Incidentally, (you might know already) there are host of other things you'll be able to do via save file edit, including increasing your storage to 14, stacking items in inventory (that once stacked but no longer), and resetting your army affiliation so that you can join another faction after you're done with one of them, in the same run/save.

ooh interesting way, it is tedious but if it works it works. Its better than nothing. Thanks for the info! I mostly care about needs modifiers and damage and stuff like that. The others sound like id have to search forever in the file :D

When you open the save file (Notepad?), search for "difficulty". I think those are the stats you're looking for? To see more clearly what's what in the file, you can upload to the file to some JSON (online) pretty formatter. However, the save file itself has to be remain un-prettified or else it won't load into the game (at least this was the case a few months ago).

For resetting faction join, search for "joined". For increasing stash, search for "storage". For player stats (e.g., increase HP), search for "player".
This was the exact solution I was looking for, thank you!

Also a note for anyone else, you only have to set the save file to read only once. Once you've disabled read only with the save open in game and then Save and Exit; the new settings will be saved to your save file going forward.
