Mind you, I was only able to join because I found a bug that let me farm rep from them super fast. When the Crimson Corp first shows up, they shout at you from their new room in the base to let you know that they're there. They have a text option to tell them that it was you that cleared the way for them which gives you 50 Rep
Here's the thing, if you leave the map to a zone and come back, you can tell them that line again and get another 50 rep. If you're quick you can farm up tons of rep for them by doing this. Mind you that it only seems to work on the first day that you have told spoken to them and told them that it was you. The next day that option goes away, so you want to talk to them early in the morning and just join and leave maps as quickly as possible to farm it quickly
Loners don't shoot at you, if you see an NPC shooting at everyone and everything and they have better weapons/gear than Bandits/Loners (the Loners are in the forest and they are a group of 3 with one occasionally pulling out a guitar to play) but worse than Green Army/Crimson then that's not Loners, Bandits, Green Army or Crimson...Those are lone NPC's called Hunters who are hostile to you no matter your rep with any of the factions and are hostile to every other faction as well...Their gear looks similar to Green Army/Crimson to a point but is almost a tan colour instead of the green/crimson colour that the Green Army/Crimson wear respectively.
Would make more sense if Crimson is better armored since you bump into them later in the game, but as it is now, Green Army are like Teamed-Up hunters right now.
2) Do daily tasks from the Networker for the faction.
3) Buy or sell items at the faction's trader.
by pressing J and picking the most right button you can see your reputation
red = hostile
yellow = neutral, they still shoot if you get too close (280+ rep)
light green = friendy (600+ rep)
dark green = bff (850+ rep)
at the beginning you only have 2 quest givers
the barkeeper n the networker ( at bulletin board, south of barkeeper )
networker offers 2 daily quests per faction a day.
in the beginning its only loner and scientist tasks,
green army joins as soon as you befriend them
as soon as green army is in the yellow they let you enter their section of the base
you then can trade with their guy.
once you are in the green their general will have tasks for you. (dude on carpet)
also every kill is -2 rep for the faction the victim belongs to. so careful bout ya carnage
my green army rep is locked at 599
but i cant see any option to actually join them
n doing their quests with locked rep feels horrible.
current quest:
green army: missing group pt1
crimson: lost convoy
