Laser Sights Pointless?

I'm wondering if I'm missing something with these. They look cool, but they lower your ergonomics which afaik makes you have more cursor sway while aiming.

When choosing between a foregrip and a laser sight, the foregrip seems far and above the better choice. And honestly, even if I have a free slot, I don't see a reason to equip the laser sight right now, since all it does is lower my ergonomics and add a visual effect(?)

Am I missing something? Since the game already provides a sight in the form of the crosshairs, the laser itself doesn't seem to add anything at all to my ability to aim.

The ergo penalty is tiny and you can always equip the +25 ergo foregrip if you really want to minimize it. The laser is good for snap shots or if you want to take a scope but have more flexibility. However, if you personally don't get any benefit from the LAM then don't equip it cause it doesn't do anything extra.

The laser line itself does nothing but help show you where you're aiming. it does buff your gun though, which is nice. also for most assault rifles you can choose to have a foregrip and laser sight.

Its obvious functions aside, I've found the laser to be useful against wolves, specifically when they lie down but aren't dead (yet.) If the laser's line is on them and their body blocks the line, the enemy is definitely still alive. If it goes past them, they're dead. Knowing this can help save on a bit of ammo.
