If you do not kill him and complete his quest to bring him 10 meat, his house will always be marked in future runs and he will have a lootable chest with random items, and you do get good stuff more often than not.

Same question. Dunno why the game is asking me to kill a frail old man in the first handful of missions. I can't do it.

I'm not sure about that. Yeah it sounds good to have an always lootable chest in the forest and if you exploid it, you are much better with that choice on the long run. But the money the green guys offering you, is a very good headstart. Also most of the times, while making quests and looting other areas on the map, my stash is already full with much higher value gear. So I think, the better way is to kill him and take the money.

say you killed Igor, and realized you made a mistake, and then alt f4'd before finishing the raid...Is he still gone forever?

I think the game doesn't save while on a mission.
Alternatively, you could just die?

build a scavenger modul in your base, and you will forget Igor ( dead or alive ) very fast.

Maybe you skipped over his dialogue, but as soon as you complete his meat quest he says he will find some items for you if you visit him in the future, which is why that chest was not there the first time you visit him.
Then again, knowing he pulled a shotgun when people tried to get him to leave the house I can say your fear was justified.

Different strokes for different folks. My reasoning is I get more stuff to sell from an easily accessible chest, plus it just rubs me the wrong way to kill a dude when the guy asking you to kill him tried to force him to leave his house and then shot him in the leg and left him to die when he refused. No thank you, I will not be the one to cover the general's bs.

Oh my god, if you return to his cabin, his corpse drops meat.
...I'm gonna eat him

in current version you need to kill him for more storage? or is there any other option to get the storage expansion?

it's very cringey to kill an old man that got roughed up before....

in current version there is no follow up mission by the red army, guess there could be something when you join a faction...

There's two missions. Get meat and to go kill a soldier named bogdanov in the makeshift camp. I think the rewards are the same for killing Igor for the general.
100 Exp;
40 Reputation;
6000 Roubles and;
1 Storage kit.

Not sure if killing Bogdanov does anything to future quests. It seems to be the same as killing any old green army guy, minus two rep. You can loot level 5 armor from him.

I think you can get meat, kill Bogdanov and then kill Igor if you want to do all the quests.
