before then, i think it's the aps. uses cheap & abundant ammo very efficiently, full auto stops charging mutants quickly, with pbm it can handle roving hunters well, and it's fast to reload as well as swap to
i've taken to putting random restrictions on what guns i can use to stop myself from going for this combo every time
AKM alongside SCAR-H are monsters but the former is avaliable right out of the game if you pick loadouts that are ready to kill Lazar and his minions. The SKS and Mosin loadouts are great for that. Theres was a loadout loaded with goods but it clearing the Police Station wasnt as exciting.
Didnt liked the shotguns, they felt something was missing.
There were many weapons that werent in the demo but my usual combo were AKM/APS or SCAR/UMP.
Also ive been following the patch notes on discord and im loving what im seeing. Cant wait to get my hands on nov15.
I went to the AKM which was a significant boost in stopping power, even suppressed. It was a lot of fun, but I was aching to get out of the AK family. I came across a Scar H early on. Suppressed i was disappointed that it only did one damage more than the AKM, if you add the same muzzle attachment they're very similar except the scar is limited to a 20 round mag, which kinda sucks in big boye panicky situations. I was tempted to go back to the AKM. (also the AK family has better attachments)
I'm a huge damage per bullet kind of guy so having big boolet is what I like. Otherwise i'm trying the ZZ Vel right now cause i stashed a lot of ammo for it, it is hilariously great how well it shreds.
next on the list is the Skop, which is just the Scar H. its uses the same ammunition so game logic wise its just an automatic sniper rifle which can also oneshot with scope and 55% pen rounds
other than that 76.54Rmm is next best thing to use but you only get to use those with the
mosin, vsd, and the russian knock off of the m200. and the vsd being the only semi auto. of that ammo group.
but if you aint a ♥♥♥♥♥ like me and dont wanna use snipers and dmrs.
the ecm or "AKM" is pretty good overall, and the Sector 21/Vector 21 spits lava but its firerate destroys durability like the guns made of tin foil.
if your stuck in the forest and camp regions. due to lack of firepower. i would suggest investing in something that can fire 76.54Rmm and then hit the makeshift camp or industrial area and hunt a crimson npc, just one is fine you can usually find a solo one in the camp area since they spawn near soldiers and bandits they are usually fighting the other two factions.
the barman also gives you a quest that unlocks a relootable loot stash so abuse that until you have funds for a better gun to,.
I carry always the ECM or the NC47 Chimera + 60 bullets drum as primary weapon, as it deals with everything. The first has more stopping power but lower RPM, the second has decent per-bulled damage and high RPM. And as secondary either the EDL (silenced and highly damaging) or the Marauder Modern rifle (noisy AF, but one-shots even a Kibba if he was not aggroed).
BUT I'd give an award for ECM/AKM (whatever you call it) for being an answer for most issues in early and mid game and solid, reliable weapon.
