Do you really think a tradesperson is going to go to college for 3 years (Just to learn the basics) Which costs them thousands of pounds, then do multiple other courses, again costing thousands of pounds. Then be on crap wages for the next few years till they learn how the job is done in the real world and not on a wooden board where everything is simple.
After many years of learning and being on a poor wage, plus the thousands you need to spend on getting all the correct tools so you can do your job, do you really think it worth their time to turn up (bearing in mind travel time, fuel costs etc) and say they will change your light fitting for £20(or whatever currency you use)?
Behave yourself please, the reason it looks like some of these jobs are simple when you see a tradesperson do it is because they have invested a lot of time and money to get themselves into that position of KNOWING (not guessing) how any certain job should be done.
By all means do your own electrics, but down complain if you hurt yourself, others or cause a fire. Then also don't complain when an electrician comes around to do the periodic testing and tells you it is all rubbish.
Calm down it was a joke, if you dislike your job find another more satisfying ;)
Electricians rip people off... They charge way too much for labor, overprice and markup the necessary materials (that is why they won't install user supplied materials, even if it is new in the box), and overstate what actually needs to be done hoping to line their greedy little pockets.
Ah well stacking shelves it is for you then.
Sorry, I don't stack shelves. I am retired due to a leg amputation, but when I was working I worked in public service for the Parks department and volunteered at the senior center to help seniors not to get taken advantage of by unscrupulous repair people.
Electricians have a very difficult job. Some people think it's easy, but if it was there would be loads of electricians out there and the job wouldn't be so highly paid.
We want to show you that an electrician's job is not only "connect one wire with another" while getting some fun out of it. We will listen to all feedback after the prologue and demo and we will see what we can improve/change/add after that.
