Unfortunately, we don't have a deck yet, but I asked another community member who does, and he confirmed that it works with the following steps:
1. click on the input field with the mouse pointer.
2. press STEAM + X to open the virtual keyboard.
3. enter the name for the saved game using the virtual keyboard.
4. close the virtual keyboard by pressing STEAM + X again.
5. click the "Save" button.
Hope this helps. Once we've a deck we can test it ourselves, simplify the process and apply for certification, but for now Steam deck isn't officially supported and we can only try our best by relying on the awesome community.
- Can you confirm that you clicked on the input field first?
- Are you using the official controller layout/mapping for the game?
If none of this helps. Something else I could do (not having a deck myself to fix it properly) is adding an extra button to automatically populate a name, for example, based on the current date. That way you could save when you want at least. What do you think?
But, I have just realized the game actually has an autosave so it probably isn't that big of a deal.
