Mods for games are awesome. Namco only need to care about cheaters in ranked and they can do this individually considering the price of the game.

Mods should never be allowed in games with online functionality unless explicitly allowed, e.g. Steam Workshop and can only play friendly matches with people who have the same mods installed or something.

I believe they will have some form of mod/cheat detection, pretty sure T7 did at least.

you can use mods in tekken 7 and you never noticed because it doesn't affect the other players and if I want my Kazuya to look like Guts from berserk it's n one of your business.
Cheatin is a completely different topi and it's done in compeltely different ways than modding.

Is this in relation to Capcom patching their older games to disable mods or something?

Harada did once say mods can be problematic for them at times. because people have installed them, and when they break the game or not work, they contact Namco Bandai "Why does this not work?" lol
Or they see it somewhere and go "Where do I download this? I can't find it in store!"

Nevermind all the stuff that would need licencing.

This issue often comes up, people say "Modders did what devs can't do!" but the truth is, adding content to games, especially big franchises, takes a lot of thought and planning.
Modders can make stuff without much consideration for consequences, and will often tell you if you break your game, it is on you, make backups... etc. Which is understandable.

If a DLC creaks your game or in conflict with another piece, you would not accept it, but it is fine for mods.

Harada once said something along the lines of "This is awesome" about an Elden Ring mod for Tekken 7. He also said "But please stop it lol" about the same mod.

I don't really think he cares, to be honest.

The main issues are just:
1)Ignorants who think modding = cheating.
2)Envy from console players.
3)"Purists".
4)Criticism from shareholders/stockholders/community, which happens when modders manage to fix something the developers couldn't/didn't wanted to.

i dont think they would or will ever penalize single player. only when its online only would they go that far.
