Why such a big game have so little good YouTubers/Streamers like PhiDX?
I wonder why there are so few good content creators for Tekken. It seems like a missed opportunity to fill such a huge gap. No wonder PhiDX is becoming a superstar by simply being nice and helpful.
Sure, there are plenty of amazing players, but they are either as-holes or boring to watch.
SF6 doesn't have such problem and there are plenty of very cool channels.

Here is a completely unrelated video of a very good player.

I mostly watch top level tournaments for Tekken, the channel of RIP, Levelupyourgame broadcasted Korean ATL tourneys recently or channels like Tampa never sleeps or an obscure channel called Baaz that showed the first Pakistani dojo yesterday.

Otherwise just character specific niche channels like Heera Malik for Steve,Senpai relax/Death by Nina for Nina or ImyourFather for Lee ( or Murakumo) etc..

I sometimes watched Spag's channel ( for the interviews with top players) , TekkenKnee channel for some gameplay or Phidx ( makes interesting content, smart observations) and the various "Tekken replays" channels to check some specific players or characters games.

Sometimes I also watched Moonsault Slayer for some news or some funny combo channels like TK Jetfury or normal ones like Rysingsol when trying a new char.

Youtube recommends me some more popular channels all the time but I rarely watch because I prefer targeted content for particular characters I play or tournaments.

Anakin's videos are pretty dope.

I agree.

The popular streamers stopped playing regularly a long time ago. Avoiding the puddle used to post Tekken content all the time but they hate Tekken fans and I understand why.

I can think of plenty of people to watch for Tekken.

Anakin
PhiDX
Speedkicks
Rip (LevelUpYourGame)
Brawlpro
JoeCrush
LotusAsakura
KingJae
TheMainManSWE

And that's just people who are Tekken players, there's plenty of newcomers who stream a lot too like boxbox, LilyPichu, and Shiphtur. Surely you can find someone who you enjoy watching.

I think there might also be a language barrier. Most of the best players are from Korea, Japan and Pakistan, and they don't speak English which makes it hard to have a broad appeal across all markets. I like JDCR but I usually watch his videos with subtitles, he's a funny guy but it's hard to tell when you don't understand Korean. Tekken is a hard game so variety streamers won't stick around long or won't stream Tekken exclusively. I do watch Lilypichu though, i think she's the only one from the Sajam tourney that really stuck to playing the game, although I see Shiphtur once in awhile. I actually prefer watching non fighting game pros learn the game and not the elite players.

I think there are plenty of guides out there on youtube, some small youtubers trying to establish their niche out there. I feel like Tekken is one of those games that's fun to watch but it's hard to understand outside of learning it a piece at a time. So you have to search for that specific piece and not try to watch every video that pops up on Youtube cause you won't remember most of it anyway.

Aris is probably the most popular Tekken personality but he can make much more bank with less effort and aggravation playing other games. Lilmajin is someone you can check out, as long as don't despise a King player, very likeable and down-to-earth guy which is rare.

I also think with people feeling less satisfied or hitting the wall with the game they've moved on so there's not as much viewership. I have a hard time playing Tekken 8 for long sessions so I imagine it's not easy to stream it for a long time without getting tired. It's a frenetic game, moreso than Tekken 7.

Tekken is a big franchise, but i get the impression, and i might be wrong, that the competitive playerbase is not as big as other popular fighting games.

Some good streamers have also got married and retired, like Peter Y Mao, who contributed a lot to T7 with his videos. Core-A Gaming was not exclusive a Tekken channel, but it suffered from the same fate aswell.
Most play singleplayer. PvP, while is does have a decent sized playerbase for that, pales in comparison to the players that will play a fighting game until their bored, and then move on, and maybe return every so often to play again.

Just look at the units sold on Steam. https://vginsights.com/game/1778820
Nearly a million purchases of Tekken 8, and yet the current peak player count is just short of 12,500.

Tekken is a very popular franchise and 8 is no exception, but like most fighting game franchises, it isn't a franchise that the majority of players put tons and tons of hours into.

Matches are being stolen and uploaded by leeches.

*shrug*

nothing wrong with it, since matches are open to the public ingame and it helps for learning. also, free advertising for them

uh if I wasted my time making content and I found my content was being stolen I'd work for another platform.. If i was a large youtuber id strike those channels and look into others who had their content stolen and then give them a call. Content thieves don't deserve justice.

you can't strike them, you don't own the copyright.

I donno Tekken is so much known game that making stream about it seems (bit) pointless least when it comes to the good streamers there are many ppl with just huge ego and rage but the game is so well known that i think ppl just lean to something they dont know so well or they dont play often them selfs.
From my own experience over the years when ever i ask some ppl they always knew about Tekken some knew or didnt knew about Street fighter and suprisingly very few ppl knew about DOA (but i admit thats partly fan service game but i like the fight styles there) so yea i think Tekken is just so well known that ppl often look elswhere unless they search some real decent tips on how to get better.

He sometimes isn't being serious and says stuff just to look goofy or mean and if you watch him enough you know when he is not being serious. Still, after streaming for hours and having stressful matches some streamers can overreact to some viewers trolling.

Maximilian Doods bans people for the slightest things, but because he doesn't react, and does it panface, helps giving him a better image.

exactly maybe im biased because i have been watching him since tekken 7 before i even played any fighting game but i personally think he is one of the better tekken streamers he actually trys to help people and does answer a ton of questions
