Is this game worth buying?
Been thinking about buying this game, but i heard of unbalanced OP characters and distasteful battlepass. I'm kind of done with modern gaming, but still want a good fight game with a healthy playerbase. Street fighter 6 and tekken 8 have that (Dead or alive killed itself long ago which is sad since i grew up playing that game).

I have mortal kombat 1 and i regret buying it, and won't buy another mortal kombat game ever again. If people don't recommend then i'll stick with what i have.

I can't believe they are charging $70, are adding in monthly battlepasses, and have in-game currency. Modern games from AAA studios are turning out trash. A lot of FOMO, a lot of bait and switching, and a lot of lack of imagination.

And besides all of this i am willing to possibly buy this game. But it's becoming harder every year to justify spending money on games that want all your time and money. In-game currency should be illegal and so should FOMO. I don't like mind games and trickery to get your playerbase to spend money instead of making things they want....

Depends really. I'd say single player is solid as long as you can run the game. I feel like if you play online it might be fun at first but after 100 hours the cracks will show unless you're on an OP character.

Tekken 8 feels similar to an abusive relationship unfortunately.

the physical PS5 version runs without patches, so version 1.0 without any problems, all content is on the disc. With the PC version I had crashes in the story at chapter 9 or 10 in a CG scene constantly, with multiplayer I also had crashes. I don't know what PC is like now, but PS5 doesn't cause any problems

Pretty much whenever there's a Driver update for my GPU the game will crash. The workaround I've come with is load every stage. Even when I get the popup that says the game crashed and has to close I still load every stage I can regardless.

I think, T8 will always have 8-10k players online in Steam + crossplay.
Also depends on region. EU has way more Tekken players, than SF6 for many reasons.
OP characters they will nerf eventually.
As for DOA6, it still have players to spend my evening with. Both, ancient and new ones. I don't need 10k players, I will never play with all of them anyway. Nor I want to.
Overall T8 is a great game, it just needs some time.

I would recommend against purchase. Save money for something that is worth playing.

It really is! The game is great but its problem now is netcode (pluggers) and polaris crash on low end computers. Despite that, I suggest you buying a game, even I gave it a negative review due to the frustration with the polaris crash on my old computer (it does not happen on my high end computer). I was playing a lot of Mortal Kombat 1 before Tekken 8 came out, and I can tell you that I fell in love with Tekken 8 the moment I tried out Tekken 8 Beta version. It just felt better than Mortal Kombat 1. Besides, both games had similar issues (Mortal Kombat 1 was crashing constantly for 2 months, and Tekken 8 has Polaris crash that can happen once in two hours or so for low end computers). Despite that, I really suggest you buy the game because it's hella fun. The ranked mode had its issues the way you get and lose points and all of that and it can be frustrating for the beginner especially, but if you just want to fight other people with no frustration over ranking, just go with the non ranked quick match. To sum it up, you can buy Tekken 8 regular version for as low as 45 euros on allkeyshop, while the ultimate can be bought for 72 euros. I would go with ultimate, since you get 4 DLC characters in year 1 of the game.

I bought this game after the battle pass so I knew what I was going into. But, I did buy after buying a high end computer that I wanted to test.

I would personally recommend to try the demos for both T8 and SF6 and see which one you like better. If your computer cannot handle Tekken, you can still go for SF6 as it is optimized better.

I think it’s the best fighting game on the market and the only one that feels high budget.

There is FOMO with battlepass but it’s emotional. Many streamers refuse to buy it. You can complete it first and see if it’s worth it to collect the rewards. If you pay then you instantly get all the 600 coins refunded to you.

But even without battle pass you still get the best customisation on the market. Way better than SF6 or whatever else. It’s also very active at any skill level.

Polaris crash isn’t a low end computer issue. I get them sometimes and I’m using

14900k
4090
64 GB ram

On 7900xt I only have it if I close the game by alt+f4 (that's when it occurs) since I am too lazy to do it from the options. Still, the game has performance issues since 20gb of vram and 64 gb of ram is not enough to have stable 60 fps ( I have occasional 55 fps drops)

If you're into supporting B2P game with F2P monetization model. Go for it.

If you are willing to look past the FOMO and bait and switching, I'd recommend waiting for a decent sale and then asking again. The core gameplay is good, and if the devs can solve the issues people here are talking about by then, it'll be worth it.

Just to add on what someone here said, Soul Calibur has the best customisation on the market, not Tekken. Tekken has the best customisation of any fighting game that is actively played.

FOMO is such a worthless mentality in the first place. Who's afraid of 'missing out' on pretend dress-up items? They're pretend dress-up items in a video game, just don't buy the pass. The constant crying is unbelievable, like Namco personally went to each and every person who bought Tekken 8 and made them buy the BP or something. Now we have these threads from people who haven't even bought the game, jfc.

Listen OP, if this is your attitude before you've even bought Tekken 8, I'm gonna save you 70$ and tell you to buy a different game.

If it was worthless mentality, devs wouldn't be using it for making tons of money.

Save your money. Learn from my mistake. I bought MK1 like you did and regretted it. And just like you I went to Tekken to try to find something better.

Well, let me tell you the grass isn't any greener over here. It's just like MK: you'll get some fun out of it but ultimately walk away disappointed.
