The main benefit for Tekken is possibly better ergonomics when resting the controller on your thigh. You also get access to two shortcut buttons if you need them.
Fightpads are really for six button games like Street Fighter as they allow you to use a Tekken style grip, which isn't possible with a traditional gamepad.
