Can only play online with vpn. Help!

So 10 months ago I had the same problem with tekken 8 were i spent 2 weeks basically trying to trouble shoot the server communication error that made that I couldn't play online. I managed to fix it by removing the launcher and paks folder (1.5 gb) and using the steam verifier but, now that I reinstalled the game after I got a new gpu the same error occurs and deleting the folder doesnt fix it anymore. When I put a vpn the online works Normally. Anyone knows why? It's mind blowing, 10 months and these guys didn't basically Fixed anything.

Just to be sure go check your windows region. Never heard about the errors because of it, but it's using as your home region while matchmaking.

And ofc it could be nice if you'd tell your region.

hmm it could be a mismatched region on the main machine or just super low player count for Brazil SA.

Maybe try changin region to a nearby country which has enough population,I think NA has huge number of players. VPN is laggy so people might block you after that. Alternatively try changing NAT Type and DNS to google DNS. Try portforward if even those don't work.

This is what is happining for you guys it says server communication error, so I can't even enter the online that is why I higly doubt that it has to do with player count I can't even acess with through the menu. If I use a vpn it works but it is a free vpn so of course I not going to play with 200 ping but without vpn I can't even acess the online this is the problem.

sounds like your key isnt going through if you need a vpn for menu access

A firewall is blocking communication with server .

Maybe it has something to do with my key like you said, I bought from nuuvem, tekken latam key. About the FirewaIl I tried to disable but same problem.

thats sounds like a ISP issue you may want to call your Internet service Provider support, and ask about any excessive security features that can interfere with ports, and how to address this issue due to business / Hobby issues..

If they ask what business say its private that will move things along.

By Key I mean the game cant say you own this on activation.

I'm not saying the key isnt legit im saying what ever service is being used to check it on load of namco games is saying denied. SCVI also has this where if you start it offline it will black screen till it can communicate.

It may be as simple as a over secure NAT
Try resetting the router for 60 sec, or calling support who will also ask you to reset the router for 60 sec.. And ya, if they ask you to do so, just do so so they can connect and see on their end if any issues with the router or settings.

Thanks sown for trying to help but it didn't work reseting the router. I wil try to talk to bandai again because it is very dumb that the game had all this time to fix things but didn't... And just for you guys to know, I can play any game online completely fine but I don't know why tekken is kinda blocking my online.

Thanks sown for trying to help but it didn't work reseting the router. I wil try to talk to bandai again because it is very dumb that the game had all this time to fix things but didn't... And just for you guys to know, I can play any game online completely fine but I don't know why tekken is kinda blocking my online.

Well I was wondering if the Namco IP was being rejected that's why I suggested talking to your ISP on the matter.

Ok i just reset my router a bunch and now it works somehow

Jesus Christ some of you should really get blocked from online play until you met the minimum requierements for decent online play performance, seriously.

They did fix it, in the 1st month they had very few server spots for all south america, and now, we have very few problems after updates(Eddy update kicked me out of servers for a day) than we had at that time, most regions are working fine...
Cloudfare's WARP 1.1.1.1(assuming you're on windows) helped me a lot those days at the cost of 1 rollback frame(everyone rematched, noone complained), but you should disable it everyday so you can know when it's fixed...
