Do y'all use special style (easy mode) or only manual combat?
Do y'all use special style too or only manual combat? It always helped me since I don't know any combos and I only do or spam the same attack. It is recommended to turn special style on or it's more recommended use the manual combat?

Whatever is easier or more fun for you.
It’s not very good when you gain any experience but it’s OK when you don’t know any moves yet.

i actually use style when i want to see what a 'cool combo' looks like then i go practice. You lose versatility i suspect, so manual is probably better in the long run.

related to that: if someone complains that someone's using special style it means they can't punish your use of special style and should do it more to em til they learn.

edited for a typo, my god i need to sleep.

I turned it off/ unbound it right away, it's too easy to end up making it a crutch.

I used it to do the character episodes for characters that I haven't played before but I never use it when I'm actually playing the game. It's really bad. It should only take 10-30 minutes to learn a character to the point that you can play them more effectively than is possible with special style.

Manual combat. Even though it's difficult, I find it enjoyable.

Learn to play the game, play manual/classic. If you just want to hit the same button over and over, cookie clicker is right there.

Oh ok. Thank you guys. Special style I think is used to finish the story, if we only want to unlock something. But yeah, special style is like modern controls. Even Street Fighter 6 has that thing.

Only manual. We can't learn the game properly by switching with easy mode.

If it can help you, learn the game in this order:
-Defense.
-dodge / ducking - dash
-Neutral (simple attacks or 1-2 hit combos)
-Punish
-frame data
-then combo (3 max).
-the rest you will learn with time.

If you wanna actually play the game for a longer period of time (and I would hope you do if you paid 70 freakin bucks for it. Highway robbery, I say!), I STRONGLY recommend just playing normally.

Special style severely limits your moveset, teaches you practically nothing, and even the combos you get out of it are very weak. It's worse than training wheels on a bike, because with those you actually have to mechanically do the same thing you'd do without them. They just prevent you from breaking your face on the pavement when you mess up.

Besides, you'll feel better when you actually do something cool yourself, even if it was on accident, than if you were just mashing one button.

Don't try to learn defense first in this game lol. That's like telling someone they have to read an entire encyclopedia before they can play.

Learn what your defensive options are, like blocking, ducking, and sidestepping, sure. But learning how to defend against every character is going to be the hardest part of the game and take the longest to learn. It's also the kind of thing you can't really learn without just going into games and getting beat up.

Oh ok. Then I'll never use it. So if I am online mode and if I use special style I earn nothing? Or I just earn a little bit? So Namco know that. If I am online mode, I don't know if anybody can see that I switched the special style mode.

I play the game, why would I want a combo without the effort?

If you're asking if you earn rank points, nothing about that changes when you use special style. What that guy was trying to say is that you won't really learn the game because special style limits your options so much.

Also yes, your opponent can see when you turn special style on, which is another downside because it telegraphs to your opponent what you're able to do.

Special Style is useful to get through the Story Mode and Character Stories for when you're asked to play an unfamiliar character. With 32 characters on the roster, it's silly to expect anyone to want to learn the basics of everyone well enough to complete that content.

Since I have legacy experience for Kuma in T7, I don't use it.
