Heat Smash needs nerfs
Honestly why give everyone a 17f startup mid or low that does alot of damage and potentially a wall break/bounce or floor break/bounce?
I already have to deal with my opponents being super aggressive, spamming random ♥♥♥♥ on wake up and now i have to be scared of even approaching them, this is kinda ridiculous.

This might be growing pains but im constantly entering and getting kicked out of mighty ruler....
And this isn't something i can juts go to the replay mode and figure out what to do, this isn't even frame traps being problems cause apparently im not even allowed to press buttons at +5... (not about the heat smash, it is fine the way it is rn)

I honestly just hope this is just the game being a bit unbalanced for the time being and things will just smooth out but the players are SO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ IMPATIENT

Edit: My bad i mistook Heat burst with Heat Smash
And yes i know jack has a 10f and zafina has a 12f heat smash, my problem with it is that mechanic is unreactable and thanks to someone in the comments the range aswell

I assume you mean the heat activations?

They honestly should be doing 0 damage even on hit, and maybe become +0 on block. They would still serve thier purpose.

You missunderstood the attacs im talking about:
what you mentioned are the heat smash (the free out of jail armor attack)
im talking about the attack that comes out when you press the heat button WHILE in heat state

You're confusing the keywords. The armor attack that activates heat is called "heat burst". The big move that comes out when you press the heat button while in heat state is called "heat smash". The character specific moves that activate heat are called "heat engagers". Also there's "heat dash", when you dash cancel.

Heat Burst should be +0 on block imo. Heat Smash moves shouldn't be plus on block and allow for mixups afterward unless they aren't very good moves to use at neutral, which rarely seems to be the case. Instead your reward for successfully blocking stuff like DJ's heat is that you now have to deal with another mixup. It's pretty low quality and it reminds me of some of the most obnoxious v-triggers in SFV.

These new terms are still rather new and still cooking in my head.

The only point I would agree on, is that it is kinda unfair some heat smash moves start with a super fast low, making it extremly hard to react to them.

That is the main problem i have, having a unreactable (AND SAFE) 1 button punish or combo starter that is a mid or a low just makes ranking up and learning the game so unbeleavably hard and frustrating in a already complicated Fighting game

Ah right, you meant heat smashes.

The one thing I'd change about them in the range. They are nearly all stupidly long ranged and that adds to the issues of trying to counter them because nothing faster then they are can reach them before they start.

BTW, heat smash startup varies across the entire cast. Most are 15f-18f, some are slower and Jack has the fastest in the game at 10f.

Im actually just mad at this mechanic in general, it's such a scrubby move that it should in theory help new players and veteran players in simplifying the game a bit.
In reality it gives trolls a nuke to utilise along with alot of the cast being somewhat easier to play.

I'd take heat burst over rage drives any day of the week.

There are tools to make players scared to approach. Yet, you approach them, rather than baiting them into approach you so you can bounce and combo them.

I suspect that, if I asked why you don't do this (as you say it works too well), you'd reply that "they just block me and punish." In which case... just block them and punish.

This is a fighting game. There are different strategies. It all boils down to a rock-paper-scissors style relationship. If you keep attempting one option, and they predict it, you won't win.

The rock-paper-scissor aspect is kinda ignored with the mecanic im talking about.
Even if i did bait them they would still have the advantage, unless they ♥♥♥♥ up and use it soon enough that i can make them whiff it.
If i blocked it they would still have the advantage and sidestepping doesn't help.

I need to check if parry is a good alternative to blocking.
Also the everyone has new/a little bit more recovery frames wich could also mess with the muscle memory of many people.
Well i don't really have a excuse since i mostly play reina.

Also i DID bait some of them with reina FF2 but... i whiff it most of the times :/

My argument at the end of the day is that heat smash gives you way too many advantages and favors the "aggressive" aspect way too much and rage isn't really enough to deal with it even though it is a great way to shut heat smash down.

You propably are mistaking heat smash and heat burst?
