Example of forced 50/50s:
- getting hit with a heat engager forces the opponent into a -17 frame disadvantage having no other option than to block incoming high/mid or low attack
- many blocked heat smash will result into a forced 50/50 (king, lidia, steve, xiaoyu, heihachi, etc)
A) New options from their stances
B) Easier access to their stances
C) New stances with more 50/50 options
Either way, 50/50 basicly makes offense a stronger playstyle than defense. You do not want to stand and block in a game where everything revolves around stance 50/50s, you want to constantly apply pressure and have the momentum.
It basicly means, unga bunga press flowchart.
Why do you say that? This is such a huge misconception. For example, just because you have new easier stances or transitions does not make the character less dumb. For example, if you pick up Leroy, the only thing he has differently is the fact that he has a new neutral mid move to cover up his previous weakness. This doesn't make him any more brain-dead, although he is +5 on hit. It only adds another layer which the opponent and player have to keep into their mental stack.
If this was possible with every character please reach TGOD+ with any character and see how braindead you can get without getting blown up by players who actually use any marginal levels of skill.
Omg when you play the game for 25 years and know every frame whats broken suddenly changes, wow.
Also even GOD players hate the stance ♥♥♥♥, and the fact that every character is getting more stances that leads to a different cancerous 50 50.
Because guess what? When king goes into jaguar sprint from + frames, or insert whatever character into whatever stance, your GOD rank suddenly doesn't matter, at that moment you are same as a green rank in that situation. You just have to play the casino or potentially eat a launcher, which in GOD+ will absolutely kill you.
If anything game is a lot more forgiving in lower ranks since nobody knows optimal combos and difficult bounds. Even if you eat a 50 50 chances are you are gonna take 90 damage instead of 150.
And even in season 1, you know there was a guy who reached tekken god with special style king right? He can do it even easier this season because king has even stronger 50 50s lol.
dude literally played the game with 4 buttons and reached tekken god.
You cannot punish majority of frames from special style, this also means he didn't really defend either. Literally press your strong moves, have decent enough timing, go into those stance 50 50 loops whenever you are allowed to, thats it. This is literally the current game.
What you do not want to do is just stand there and block. There are too many characters that are just gonna throw a +OB move and go into a free stance on you.
Well, for one, I have to say, I sort of kind of understand the philosophy behind it. Think about the post from Joka (pro player first reaching GoD rank).https://www.reddit.com/r/Tekken/comments/1jp9j59/jokas_thoughts_on_the_new_patch_after_reaching_god/#lightbox
You have to remember, these are players not game developers. This dude happens to be one of the best Feng pro players and still reaches GoD no matter what patch. Do you think he got that because he couldn't guess a 50/50 from Anna or King coming at him from plus frames? Not really. He has the dedication and skill and reflexes in order to punish properly and capitalize on the situation when necessary.
Yes, there are things that he says such as characters getting their weaknesses patched and identities being removed by homogenization. Where he even says "new moves added are insane with little to no counterpay", but that's up for debate on what he means specifically. However, he does say that removing strategy in favour of more 50/50 situation isn't interesting game-play, but he never does say that the game-play is braindead/ unga bunga press flow-chart.
