A year of Tekken 8…
What’s everyone’s thoughts?

Personally l think the first year of Tekken 8 really sucked. For me the game is either boring (fighting the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Kazuya, Jin, Bryan or Steve over and over) or infuriating to the point that I have to ask “why am I torturing myself?” Overall I’m disappointed that Tekken 8 isn’t fun like I expected it to be when I bought it.

Most of the misery players are experiencing, is directly related to the Namco choices prioritizing profit over pretty much anything else.

I enjoy this game a lot, unless a kazuya/jin pops up in my game, I just put the controler down and go pet my cats. I dont have interest in fighting/learning the matchup of such scammers. any other character is fun to me.

And yeah later and it's still a POS

“why am I torturing myself?”
are u playing reina too ? :cozynier:
I think 8 is OK. Heat was a better attempt than Rage to introduce some chaos and fudge factor into matches, but it still doesn't feel refined enough. I also think the engine feels downright old now and needs a complete overhaul.

The whole thing feels like a big step back needs to be taken and everything refined and put on a new engine. They're going in the right direction taking the game further away from people who just memorize everything and making gameplay more dynamic and unpredictable, but if they just add more layers of heat-rage mechanics and sparkly effects in the next one they'll be in trouble. They really need to get away from old and frankly stupid (read: Street Fighter) ideas like rage/heat/super bars on the screen and integrate the unpredictability into the core gameplay. Movement needs major improvement, too.

I am ashamed for paying for T8 and playing it. Its too bad that T7 got me so hooked up.

Never played anything worse than T8 thats for sure.
It's definitely a bad year 1 for Tekken 8
Worst part is, I have no idea or confidence that they'll make it better, since Bandai Namco as a company isn't looking too hot right now. Not to mention, between now and 2026, more fighting games will come out (COTW, 2XKO, VF6, etc)

I personally enjoyed T8 a lot. Maybe even too much as I put over 400h into the game and couldn’t stop. I liked it much more than T7.
I’m aware that some pros complain about the game being too aggressive and not giving enough defensive options but my experience is exactly the opposite. I like heat burst, RA and power crushes as armoured defensive mechanics. I like recovering grey health.

The things I don’t like since T3 are stupid long combos. Also too long RA animations. High crushing lows for 50% damage are stupid. Also throw break system that less than 1% of player base have skill and genetics to properly grasp.

There are lots of stuff that needs to be fixed for yesterday. However...

If they buff:
-Sidestep, defense, backdash, matchmaking, netcode.

If they nerf:
-Juggle extensions, heat engagers.

If they add:
-Juggle breaker, counters, Lounge mini-games.

If they remove:
-Crappy arts, floor bounce, wall bounce, the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ polaris crash.

Then the game will become MUCH, MUCH better.

Best fighter last year, easily. And will be this year too, most probably

Amazing premise and pretty fun CNT. First two months \ honeymoon phase, not too bad. Then... every single decision the devs made absolutely destroyed my motivation to play it, and everyone else I suggested to play as well. Fun fact, I bought a second copy for a friend's birthday and they apologized profusely that they could not sink in more than a few hours because the game was so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ after the first few waves of nonsensical updates.

Right now, hands down much worse than T7's first year. And T7's first year wasnt particularly good.
the scrub mechanics make the game unfun and uninteresting,

the customization is garbage

the free content is garbage

beneath the surface this game is a lazy cash grab

nuff said.
