Tekken 8: The Game That Made Me Question My Sanity
Well... my friends, it’s been quite the "journey," hasn’t it? Five whole years of playing Tekken 7 and managing to develop into... well, let’s say “a somewhat decent” player. I mean, hey, I reached the highest ranks in both Tekken 7 and Tekken 8, so clearly I’m on the verge of becoming a professional (yeah right...). I’ve even won a few online tournaments—nothing major, of course, just enough to make me feel like I’m almost on top of the world, if only in my own mind. Because, let’s face it, we all know how "prestigious" online tournaments are.

Now, as we have transitioned into Tekken 8, I have some thoughts. And by “thoughts,” I mean a collection of remarkable observations about this new game. Because who wouldn’t want to hear what a long-time casual grinder thinks after half a decade of dedicated button-mashing and character-mastery? If you're looking for deep, profound insights, this is definitely not the place. If you're looking for someone to give it to you straight, with a side of sarcasm and a sprinkle of “I’m-tired-and-bitter-from-playing-this-game-too-long,” you’ve come to the right spot.

So here we go. Oh, where do I even begin with this dumpster fire masquerading as a fighting game? I really wanted to like it, because Tekken 7 was one of my absolute favorites. But guess what? This isn’t Tekken. It’s some weird, unholy mess of button-mashing, Heat-crushing, lag-fueled nightmares. If you like thinking and strategizing in your fighting games, well, good news—this one’s actively trying to strip that joy away. Being aggressive is the only thing that works, because apparently, having a brain and making decisions is so 'not fun". Who needs to think when you can just spam power crush and heat moves to escape any real challenge?

Oh, and the optimization? Chef’s kiss—if by chef’s kiss you mean an unholy disaster. PC lag? Check. Cross-play lag? Check. Disconnects and rage quits? You better believe it. And for the cherry on top, the movement feels like you're controlling a drunken giraffe on roller skates. Also, let’s talk about ranked mode. Best of three? Seriously? Perfect, let me unlock my secret godly powers to instantly adapt to the random mess of nonsense that hits me faster than a kid on a sugar rush.

I tried to give it a break, you know, for my own sanity. Thinking maybe it's me... Came back, and it was like seeing my ex at a family reunion—immediately reminded of why I broke up with it in the first place. Don’t waste your time, don’t waste your money, because it’s absolutely not worth it.

And if the only reason you’re still grinding away at this game is because you’ve sunk X amount of hours into it, and now you’re too stubborn to admit you’re not even enjoying it... well, do yourself a favor and stop being a masochistic psycho. Take a step back, breathe, and for the love of whatever deity you believe in, take care of yourself. Let me be the cautionary tale, so you don’t have to make the same mistakes I did.

To the legacy players still clinging to this mess—I see you, I really do. This is probably way more of a shock for you than it is for the rest of us, and I commend you for putting up with the nonsense as long as you have. You deserve a medal... or at least a therapy session.

To those who somehow still enjoy this game—I salute you. Seriously. You’re either a glutton for punishment or you’ve unlocked some kind of secret Zen level where you can enjoy being slapped around by the game’s flaws. To each their own, right?

And to those who are just about ready to quit... do it. Quit cold turkey, because that’s probably the healthiest choice you’ll make this year. There’s a whole world of beautiful games out there waiting for you. Trust me, I’m diving into RDR2, and the difference in quality and enjoyment? Night and day. So please, spare yourself the agony. Let Tekken rot in the rear-view while you enjoy something that doesn’t feel like a digital self-inflicted wound. Adios to all, stay strong out there!

Every second player that i get matched into has about 80-100+ ping with 3-4f delay. Abusing their laggs, some combos get impossible todo and they just spam cheap lows cuz u have to guess. U dont even see the low cause of the laggyness.

If u play against any console player, its ur fault. Never accept console or wifi thats what ive learned from t8.
Console players are poor cant afford pc nor good internet connection

5 bar internet connection btw

I agree. A complete disaster. Street Fighter 6 got decent online, Tekken 8 is just misery. Also, why make cross-play a thing if you can’t even deliver a stable connection in the first place?

I don't want to waste time on refuting Garyu-level complaints about power crushes and other nonsense.:steambored:

Nah, you go. You said 'Adios to all', right? So keep your word and get lost. Or are you one of those who quit tekken8 every week? Much emotional? Yeah, you better delete yourself from the game. It's not for the mentally weak. But not everyone is like that, so don't tell people what to do and what to play.

Oof, looks like I struck a nerve. Look at you showing your true colors! Well if you could read, I mentioned that I'm GoD with 2 characters (Steve/Bryan) in this game. Same in Tekken 7. Well Steve got demoted today so just 1 before I deleted the game! Pardon me.

Really have to break it down to you like to a child, but hey I don't mind. Adios was meant as a goodbye to me as a player of Tekken 8, not leaving the discussion.

I played Tekken for 6 years sir, not sure what "weak" mentality you are talking about, perhaps you're aware way more of that mentality because you already possess it. Again, reading problem and understanding. I'm simply suggesting "quiting" the game if you don't enjoy it. Fighting games tend to suck you in, my friend. You can disagree that's fine, however I do not see nothing wrong with being "Much emotional" about the game that you spent a lot of time playing.

I'm not your friend, stop calling me that. You played T for 6 years but you failed to learn how to deal with armor move spam? In T7 we had power crush launchers, if you forgot. Not the case in T8. Anyway, adios, high ranked scrup. See ya in a week :steambored:

Okay lol. Judging from "i'm not your friend, stop calling me that" you don't have that many friends (that was weak mentality right there :D) and good job! You can't read! I won't argue with stupid. It's a losing battle... Adios my friend

post kekken or wavu profile please
Btw, I agree the game’s a mess, but I don’t think T7 was any better. Tekken’s always had a ton of problems, and every fix just ends up making more
And usually, people who claim otherwise either didn’t play through T7’s entire lifespan or just don’t have the competence to judge it properly - they’re just repeating what others say without really understanding the details. That’s mostly why I asked for your profile. I’d be really surprised if you actually have the elo you’re talking about
