Just a salt rant: Rage arts should not be a thing
Title says it all.

Now I am not saying people shouldnt use rage arts; its a mechanic in the game, and its made to be use, that logic is fair.

But it really shouldnt be a thing. I never use rage arts in a match even if I am close to death because it genuinely feels like a very cheap way to win.

You should not be rewarded because I was beating your ass.

No fighting game should there be an automatic get out of jail free card that is the rage art. "Hey, are you being outplayed in almost every way that led up to you nearly losing? Here's, this button will play a cutscene where you'll basically bring that person close to death themself 7/10 times; all because they were schoolin' you so bad that you had to pull this out"

I understand if you time it, you can block it, but these rage arts don't have almost any kind of startup besides the cutscene beginning to play so half the time you TRULY have to guess. And again, why tf should the burden be put on me now to truly worry about this dumb move that you've been granted because YOU WERE LOSING?

Anyways I'm just salty because I just lost to a decent Nina player who I was beating soundly and then the Rage art just starts up and now she got a comeback.

I think the heat system is fine because it still requires some type of execution and actual skill but Namco seriously needs to make a mode that turns off rage arts or something because it's just a ♥♥♥♥ mechanic. Also if you balance your win strategy around the rage art and I win, I will not rematch you. Anyways rant over

rage arts are fine, THE DAMAGE u get with it is absurd, it should be MAX 40 dmg, like a throw, because is real easy to bait someone into eating that thing. or at least not having DMG reduction in rage status so u have to risk more.

but ranked is a joke after all,
u can find players with good fundies using special style only for being extra dense.

I was playing ranked yesterday and a king won every round just because of rage arts, no shame or anything, he even spammed the special style button the entire duration of the rage animation. ranked is just a place to test your patience over skill.

Rage Arts are improperly tuned in Tekken 8. Imagine dealing with a dumbass character like Xiaoyu or Alisa and getting the upper hand… then get hit with Rage Art while you throw a jab.

the really annoying thing about them is that the animations are so long.
combined with the long juggle combos (that can be made even longer when using floor/wall breaks) you can end up with matches where you spent more time not actually playing than playing the game. that's just such a weird design choice. enough time to put the controller down to go to the kitchen and get yourself a drink and still be back in time before you regain control of your character.

and alisa rage takes a BIG range, since she sweeps the entire low, mid, high with her rage attack, she uses her chainsaw from the ground upwards.

I hate when someone with 1 hp pixel does the rage, and lets u with more of 50% HP, like "come on bro, u already dead, why wasting our time"

You're 10 years too late to rant about this. Rage Art is fine, what is NOT okay is its -15 punish limit and the amount of damage they deal. They remind me of T7 S1 damage values, which was insanity. Then again, if we really want to open that can of worms we should take into account how much damage Heat does in combos...

even worse when you are at 1 HP while being juggled and your opponent uses rage art instead of just killing you with a jab.

some attacks are stupid in heat haha, my reina does insane chip with her 3+4,4. if u get hit with it, it is like 50 dmg each hit or something around that, but we dont have armor breaking moves in heat, and is fair

omgggggg hahahahaha that's just being annoying, I have experienced it too,
also, I do it when I dont like the matchup, a king for example, I do it and say
"PLUG IF U WANT, I DONT CARE"

It's definitely the most feels-bad thing in the game. You're probably gonna get flamed for this though because you "should just sidestep" or whatever and not get hit by them and know they're coming but I dunno. It's corny for sure. I play a lot of hwoarang so I lose a ton of rounds to rage art, the nature of his strings are so susceptible to rage art lol. It's hard to pump the brakes and bait it because I give up so much to do so ;_; but as soon as my silly little flamingo leg goes up it's just free.

It feels bad that lows don't beat it, or even a jab gets armored through and I die. It also sucks that some people can't launch at -15 on block, or you have Asuka's annoying ass mixup of "oops you didn't press but I charged the rage art and now I'm safe"

Unfortunately, modern fighting games (apparently) need unearned comeback mechanics and long flashy animations for some reason--I presume it's to retain casuals or make them find it more fun to watch?

The fact they do more damage the lower you are is probably the worst part. Of course I'm gonna mid check you or poke when you have 5 hp left, it's ugly that you can react to the startup of literally any attack and just blow through for 50% hp.

Some good changes have been normalizing the input to be the same for everyone, playing multiple characters I would sometimes mix up my inputs and do accidental RA which felt awful and made me look dumb. Or the worst contender was Marduk in t7 for me, they go for a 1+2 throw, I'm holding back and I press b+1+2 but their throw whiffs and I get accidental rage art which then gets launched and I get killed for it lmao.

I think also normalizing them all to be the same amount of negative frames was a good change. It was really annoying learning the ins and outs of all 50 characters RA on block, including ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like Jin and Steve's being safe but duckable, or Alisa's being duckable but safe but 500 active frames so sometimes you block for 3 seconds stand up and get hit because you didn't wait long enough (especially online).

It doesn't feel fun to win with a RA and I don't learn anything from it either so I don't use it outside of combos really either. I think they should at least make them all -17 so everyone can launch, but I'm assuming everyone has a 15f startup punish that does enough damage to kill (Jun db1,1,1+2 for example) so I doubt they will. They never do balance changes to rage art so I don't see anything changing. At least they nerfed heat burst from being a god move you can't ever outrange or step around, that was more egregious to me than rage art.

Long story short, nobody likes rage, it's a corny fabricated comeback mechanic but ever since the SF4 era of ultras it's unfortunately a thing that's here to stay.

That’s the thing though. The casuals left. The people playing Tekken 8 are the same ones that played Tekken 7.

So what was the point of adding this ♥♥♥♥ to the game?

I like RA animations, the dmg is the ridiculous thing about it
