With that being said, if we were to focus strictly on SF6 classic controls, then SF6 has a higher skill floor required to actually play the game on-line. You need to learn more in SF6 while in T8 you can just jump into on-line and be fine. However, Tekken has higher skill ceiling. There is much more to learn in Tekken than there is in SF6.
At the end of the day, both games have free demos available on Steam, so you can freely try both games and decide, which one you like the best.
I'll vote for SF6. Better netcode, easy to learn and master, better balance, better ranking system and has larger player base.
start from Tekken 7 story mode

"Here's Mai, here's Terry, here's everything you're getting for the next 18 months". Meanwhile, we still don't know what's going on in Tekken until the very last minute. Harada just made some cryptic remarks recently about MK and Scorpion, probably because he has to scramble now to find a guest character, and show that they're doing something, anything.
It's not that he *doesn't* communicate with fans, he would spitball with them about new guest ideas. But he also says a lot of ambiguous things like "We might be able to fix this, we might be able to improve that, it all comes down to how much of a budget I can get approved. Oh, and I just crunched the numbers. We can't afford to keep the servers running. We'll need to start including micro-transactions in our full-priced game, after all."
It just feels like they're flying by the seat of their pants. There is a disconnect between fans vs. Bamco vs. Harada.
There is no rating in SF6. All ranks up to Master are trash. Master can be obtained with a win percentage of 40. Master rank cannot be lost. After you reach the Master rank, you will have to endlessly fight for MMR numbers - it's tedious and boring.
SF6 has good netcode, but terrible player search. There is a region lock in the game. In some countries, it is impossible to find a variety of competitors without a VPN. Players from Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan cannot normally search for players without using a VPN.
SF6 doesn't have good character customization. There are only 3 costumes per character and different colors for them. You can't choose anything else. The characters themselves aren't much either. Total 22.
Tekken 8 features 34 characters, extensive customization, and deep combat mechanics with hundreds of moves for each character. Interactive arenas where you can break through walls, floors and balconies. At the beginning of the battle, you can choose a side for your character. The best training and replay system with the ability to play in the replay itself. Full story mode with cinematic scenes. Arcade quest mode that trains the player. Phantom battle. Photo mode that will allow you to create beautiful pictures.
Tekken 8 is a modern, beautiful 3D game with a lot of potential for the future.
Tekken is way harder in terms of blocking and it can be very frustrating not knowing how to defend. It can feel impossible for new players.
It’s easy to block in SF6 but very hard to attack. The execution barrier is high enough that people call modern controls cheating and shame other players for using it.
I think both games are excellent and it’s a matter of preference. I like Tekken more by a big margin but more people seem to like SF based on sales. Being able to block in SF is less frustrating than super difficult blocking in Tekken.
Tekken 8 sales figures are unknown. Bandai hasn't updated sales statistics for a long time
Tekken 8 on the other hand can have a massive amount of issues even if you have top of the line hardware. It’s a situation where you’re damned if you do (getting errors due to high end but unstable CPUs) or damned if you don’t (automatic resolution drops if your hardware isn’t up to par).
I’d say get SF6 for less of a headache plus you’ll have Terry and Mai if you’re not a fan of the Street Fighter characters.
less cheaters, no plugging possible, no modders.
but its also a more boring game: ugly characters, ugly skins, ugly stages, ugly special moves,
everything is ugly compared to T8
and if u don't live in japan u can wait hours for matchmaking.
