How to Fix Crashing in Tekken 8 (Polaris Crash, LowLevelFatalError, Could Not Decompress Shader)
If you're using an Intel CPU and experiencing crashes in Tekken 8 due to overheating or shader issues, here’s how I fixed it. These steps should also be useful for AMD users.

  • Update your BIOS (if you haven’t already).
  • Disable hyper-threading in BIOS settings.
  • Disable Turbo Mode (Intel Turbo Mode 3.0 or equivalent in BIOS).
  • Set CPU core ratio to 52x for all cores (via BIOS or manufacturer software).
  • Increase PL1 and PL2 power limits (refer to Intel/AMD guidelines).
  • Set game compatibility mode to Windows 8 (right-click .exe, go to Properties → Compatibility tab).
  • Add launch options: -sm5 -dx12 (in Steam → Game Properties → Launch Options).
  • launch the game and change in-game graphics settings - display mode to Borderless Window and set upscale mode to TSR

If you cannot adjust the core ratio in BIOS or using Intel's or AMD's official software (like Intel Extreme Tuning Utility), you can use a free tool called ThrottleStop. In ThrottleStop, go into the FIVR settings to manually set the core ratio. Make sure to also set Save Voltage Changes to OK - Save voltages immediately to ensure the settings persist.

So I just bought this game and have only played for about an hour and I've gotten 2 fatal errors. I don't remember what the first one was but the second time all it said was fatal error. Will these help with my situation too?

what fixed my issue is Disabling Turbo Mode Intel 3.0. everything is running extremely smooth and temps are Maintained under 55C

Thx for the reminder, I forgot to mention this one too.

Most likely, yes. but YMMV

Bios update on ASUS Z790 dark hero (special edition) fixed the errors on my 14900k. At least with UE5.

The bios was released on July 12. Hopefully your CPU hasn’t degraded significantly because that’s what fixed it for me.

OP updated, those should be the definitive fixes for crashing, my game used to crash a lot and now the crashes are gone entirely.

I was having the same issue with the same motherboard as Arbor. I just fixed it this morning, but couldn't figure out how to update BIOS without an external storage device. I ended up using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility like Maxaemon is suggesting here.

I changed Performance Core Ratio to 55x and Efficient Core Ratio to 42x, which stopped the UE5 issues. But to use the app I had to deactivate a Windows security feature and enable undervolting protection in the BIOS, wouldn't start otherwise.
