Yeah, when I read first time of "more aggressive" and "faster paced" combat I knew right away the game is not for me. I do not need adrenaline/dopamine bursts to feed my attention short term.

I am lucky also in that I don't need to "adapt". I can only enjoy or move on. Those pros and streamers need to "adapt". I don't have to ruin my hobby.

Edit: Typos.

Yeah, my playstyle is a good mix between defence and offence. Even with someone like Juri from SF6 who is a rushdown character I like to play defensively.

Here it's a forced oonga boonga playstyle. Barely any neutral. Knowledge checks and the abuse of broken 50/50 dictate the game more than any resemblance of skill.

too much scrubbery , panic mechanics need to gtfo, ....it used to require defensive skills to stop the opponent from smoking you, but now you just mash a button, it's so dumb

tekken 7 looks like a mobile game now nobody is going back to that garbage

people will only stick with tekken 8 for the greaphics not for the gameplay, until the new Vf comes out , then it's goodbye tekken

U know VF is way more aggressive than Tekken right?

It was the antithesis to what Tekken used to be prior to Tekken 8 excluding Tekken 4. A telephone booth fighter.

VF might see maybe a couple thousand players (80% of them are going to be in east asia) for the first week and then quickly fall off.

It really is a hardcore fighting game that will never...and shouldn't...compete with Tekken or Street Fighter.

why shouldn't VF compete with tekken ? are you so scared of a fighting game that requires skill and doesn't hold your hands ?

fighting game enthusiasts love high skill ceiling they don't like scrubbery, this is why VF coming back will bury tekken 8 into the ground

all VF needs to bury TEKKEN is awesome graphics and clean skill based gameplay, VF is the granddaddy of fighting games TEKKEN is just a scrubby rip off of VF

the only reason VF died is because it is managed by an incompetent company

SF is the grandaddy of fighting games.

I honestly believe that Fighting Games should be easier to learn and get into, not easier to play. I gave T8 an honest chance with a very open mind, but my initial reaction when seeing the first gameplay was right all along. The gameplay in general is a huge letdown and waste of potential. Buffed Rage Arts, Power Crushing, inconsistent hit detection & stage hazards. Heat is supposed to spice up the game, but in execution it turned Tekken from a test of skill into a 50/50 guessfest. It literally takes ZERO skill to get close to max rank in this game. I'm dead serious. Tekken Tag 2, the furthest I've ever got was a green Brawler rank. That should tell you something. I know that rank is not reflective of player skill, but at the same time, you put the same red/purple rank player in Tekken 8 againsts the same ranks in the previous game or especially TAG 2, and they $%^t their pants. I dislike Tekken 7 in general, but that game actually is more exciting to watch and more intense to play besides visuals and spectacle. Tekken 8 LOOKS more exciting because it's spectacle is more flashy. Maybe future patches and seasons, might spice up the game I guess... Modern Fighting games continue to disappoint me.
i'm not even a pro player, i'm as casual as it gets and i still agree with Knee and Arslan about the game, cause i'm a true tekken player and a true tekken player doesn't like scrubbery , a true tekken player will always prefer defensive fundamental based tekken over aggressive scrubbery

Not fun is boring.

Tekken 7 was more fun, had a lot of new stuff compared with Tekken 6, the Heat system is a dumb idea.

Ironically, all it takes is defensive skill to trump 'Scrubbery'.

The reason most people are stuck at or before red is because they don't care to learn to play against the new system. They just want it removed. But ask anyone Mighty Ruler and beyond, and they'll tell you relying on 'scrubbery' isn't a winning formula against people who know how to play the game.

I actually agree with inconsistent hit detection and stage hazards both being kind of annoying. Not knowing whether my aerials are going to land the same way they did the last 15 times I did it, or totally whiff out of seemingly nowhere is not a good time now that I'm contesting Fujin.

However, it definitely does take a good measure of skill to get to purple and beyond. My favorite characters in this game are the same as they've been all the Tekken series: Eddy and King. Characters who, in this game, are pretty disliked and constantly being called broken. And even they aren't the easy path people Red and below seem to think they are. Once you get out of red, it really doesn't matter who you're playing. If the execution and attention aren't there, you're not winning.

Dead serious, but dead wrong. Either way, practice low parries and punishes so you can stay alive.

2d Yes but 3d Fighters was Virtua Fighter. Graphically and Mechanically with the added dimension.
