I love this game but it feels like it's 90% guessing.
Like if i win or lose a match all boils down to if i guessed what move my opponent is about to do. or if my opponents fails to guess if im doing a mid or low. The fact the round starts at range at which most characters can hit means there is lite to no neutral involved.
I get to do whiff punishes once in a blue moon. I barely even see people use sidestep anymore even in high level play seeing as hit-boxes for that are incredibly wonky.
Unfortunately SCVI runs circles around Tekken 7/8 quite literally when it comes to being an actual 3d fighting game.
God forbid you are playing against a character you never saw someone else play before.
But then again you could just randomly guess between a mid and a low even if you don't know the match-up and try and do the same.
Kinda felt at lest in Tekken 7 you had slightly more neutral.

I still enjoy the game but it kinda hard to get invested when it feel like i win or lose not based in me outplaying my opponent but outguessing them.

Can you explain, please? I love SC1 and 2 but 6 felt like just a guessing game. Especially with that new mechanics and rage arts.

You surprised you supposed to actually make reads? And what did you think fighting is about? Running away from opponent while fishing for ch/keep out?

Outplaying your opponent is LITERALLY means reading him and using the appropriate counterplay. Did you though outplaying your opponent meant playing more time than your opponent?

"There's nothing wrong with this kind of gamedesign! Take the f*cking guess!" -Tekken youtubers before release

"The game is a 50/50 casino! What were the devs thinking!" - Tekken youtubers after 2 months

Tekken players called DOA an inferior 3d fighter because it's gameplay boils down to rock paper scissors. For this reason alone(if we ignore the lewd factor of the game), DOA will never be a true competitive game.

Now Tekken is more rock paper scissors than DOA.

Many of the stage mechanics are ripped off from DOA 6 as well.

This situation is absolutely hilarious.

I think DOA is very underrated but they asked for it making it look like it’s all about wobbles.

Think the point is that namco has removed alot of this counter play that you have mentioned (lars changes in the recent patch a perfect example) the bottom line is namo has made this more of a 50/50 game than ever before.

the games balance is poorly made, and has been overly dumbed down for a casual audience.

I feel like they're try to kill this game like Soul Calibur

People always make the same mistake when they complain about casinos. You are not in the casino originally, your opponent did something to get you into his casino. You made a mistake and that's why you ended up here. You used an unsafe move, your opponent penalized you, and now you are forced to wonder, so who is to blame? The game or you? You let your opponent safely use a slow move, which caused him to put pressure on you. This is a punishment for being too passive.

That speaks volumes about you as an insanely bad player.

This game died because its core was very weak and that was evident in the first week.

Soulcaliber is an insanely outdated idea. Tekken has much better online, which shows a lot of interest. Online is much more stable, which shows that even all the monitization hasn't deterred players. Soulcadiber had idiotic "rock paper scissors" mechanics that people just stopped using. And of course the most idiotic thing of all - you could defeat your opponent in one move by simply throwing him off the edge of the arena. I also don't forget that changing a fighter's appearance affected their hitbox, which is absolutely ridiculous.

You didn't answer the question you just poked jabs at SC.

So I'm going to take your lack of a response as a no.

Are you one of those people who think a dead game is better because it's dead? Do you think that when one player can win with one move is an example of a strong core? Or that one of the mechanics just died and wasn't needed by the players?
Soulcalibur is dead because that game sucks. It's not a matter of debate, it's a fact.

Soulcalibur was reminiscent of For Honor when it first released, where heroes with long weapons only won because they had a longer weapon than the enemy. A big axe? Means the character will be insanely slow to strike. A short weapon? Means he's going to attack really fast. It's the most boring design you can think of. It felt just as bad in combat.
Soulcalibur wasn't even saved by the bland eroticism.
Soulcalibur is a great example of how not to make games in this genre. And you should be happy about it because people have shown their attitude towards a bad and lazily made game.
