How does this happen

New to tekken 8 and i was on my ranked losing streak, omw to demote from ganryu for the 10th time, already stressed out, and then got matched with Fujin. How does this even possible? How am i supposed to have fun when i just get my ass kicked all the time with no chance to response?

Yeah, the matchmaking in this game is absolute garbage. You should get used to getting deliberately matched with people as much above your rank as your rank restrictions allow just as you are about to get demoted. Because it makes perfect sense that you should be proving that you are better than someone several ranks higher when at the moment you're getting beaten up by people (theoretically) around similar ranks.

Set rank restriction to 2 if you are new, this is the only way to play and reduce this matchmaking's inherent scumbaggery. You'll have a better chance that you'll be getting matched with people around your level. You'll still be getting Tenryus every time you are near demotion, but there is a pretty big difference between Tenryu and Fujin.

The default settings are crazy. +-3 ranks proffered means than any rank combination is possible.
I recommend changing to +-2 ranks only as it works way better. Sadly, there is no +-1 rank only setting.

the match making in rank is screwed since the prowess change

if you play multiple characters and one is in a higher colour tier than the others the match making for your weaker characters is completely busted and unfair

right now I've just gone to quick play because rank isn't worth the hassle. Hopefully they'll get the message and revert these stupid changes

alright thanks for the +-2 rank restrict advice but yeah the prowess system, i hate that too. like its not that i dont want to fight againts people better than me, its just that if i fight someone with 190.000 tekken prowess i stand no chance. and i got no achivement at all cause other than losing what do i gain? i can't even land my move that i try to do in that match

Just because I got my Xiayou to tekken King my hard stuck blue Jun was facing nothing but tekken king+ players in both ranked and quick play. I've almost already dropped down to Fujin from Kishin as a result when before the system change I had no problem usually maintaining the kishin rank. At least with the 2+ rank I've now forced the bushin army only

it's like the people who designed this new prowess system are too stupid too realise that not everyone is equally as good on all the characters they play. yes my Xiayou is better than my Jun

sf6 does the rank system so much better. it treats every character differently, exactly how it should be

if they don't revert this garbage soon I might just take a long break, this is such a tone deaf change and has ruined the game for me

The real struggle is when you reach Shinryu. The climb becomes a hell there, because you lose much more points when you lose a match.

You're still getting more than you lose at Shinryu. Fujin is the point where you start actually losing more than you get, so you need over 50% win rate against equal/higher ranks to actually climb.

Pretty sure you can get to Fujin with like 45% win rate, it will just take a while and some luck in the last stretch to get there.

reach shinryu once, that was my highest rank. then got demoted, never reach that point again. hope to rank up again but i dunno, currently struggling

lol even when I go to quick play on my main Xiaoyu I get god of destruction players. It's like this game is hellbent on giving me higher ranked players regardless of whichever mode or whoever I play

well won a few matches against some of them so that's always a confidence booster

This isn't really true. It obviously represents something more meaningful to the poster than pixels. Perhaps those pixels represent a large, blazing neon sign that he needs to git gud...scrub.

well the ranks dont really matter, i mean yeah sometimes i get salty cause of my rank but now not that often. but when im fighting someone that's too high than me (say 190.000 tekken prowess guy) i only got my ass kicked and that's it.

you might just be having an off day. I had an off day with it last week but it could just be burn out from me. Iv just clocked like 150hrs on it now and the community is very aggressive compared to its launch month
