It also makes a lot of sense, it's easier for online play if everyone can just get any stage and story mode also acts as a way to advertise/demo the character.
In Tekken 7, all stages were available in ranked regardless of if you owned it not, you just couldn't lab your stage specific combos on said stage if you didn't own it.
Oh damn, I see. Haven't played Tekken since Tekken 5.
I don't think there is even any other way to do it.
Otherwise, if my opponent chooses the stage I don't own, what is the game supposed to do?

Yeah I get that. I just didn't know Tekken ever had paid stages 'cause last time I played prior to Tekken 8 was 20 years ago.
But if you can play on the stages if at least one person owns them and they are automatically part of the ranked/quick play pool of stages then why would anyone buy them in the first place lol.
