Quick Play is almost worse than playing Ranked
I can play Quick Play and I feel like I run into people that are actually way better at the game than people I play in Ranked. Which is frustrating because the whole reason I play QP is so I can play without caring about taking L's, but when all I'm taking is L's from Raijin+ players or people in Red Ranks who simply don't care about rank and beat my azz over and over, it's not really a good time.

if your opponent is playing on a WAY WAY higher level then you then u gotta set your Goals really small, pick 1 problem you have with his playstyle e.g. wakeup setups and just try to counter this, if you manage to do it after a x tries you got a tiny bit better at Tekken, thats the only way you gonna enjoy getting beaten by a Master Tekken player
just play rank, set it to within 2 ranks only and you'll get people close to your own skill level

honestly I feel quick play is just a complete and utter waste of time now that death matching is gone

yea Deathmatching would be awesome 🤗
People will say this and complain about a lack of improvement lol. Going through ranked by heavily restricting the ranked matchmaking is an instant and easy way to eventually get super hardstuck on some rank, you should be learning how to play against better players who might be able to actually punish bad gameplay or exploit your lack of fundementals in comparison, doing this is #1 a very scrubby thing to do and #2 actually not the best for ranked progression as youre obviously missing out on the previously mentioned passive improvement along with slower matchmaking times. The entire gameplay loop of tekken as a newcomer to 8 or the series as a whole IS constant improvement because of how deep it is, youre absolutely shooting your own progression as a player in the foot by doing this. Sorry for the wall of text i like to rant about this game
Generally if youre doing this more out of a worry of preserving the precious rank points then i guess i cant stop you because Im generally less concerned about win/loss in ranked, but then again constant progression and my struggles against walls of good playefrs have landed me at flame ruler without much effort at all. If you arent trying to cheese the already badly designed ranked system then you should be seeing slight improvements, so take matches against good players as oppurtunities to learn about matchups, stage breaks , walls or especially what your opponent does in mirror matches and look at the replays for extra tips. Also quickplay totally imo shouldnt be matchmade for skill levels, it obviously automatically does filter out the lowest and highest levels for most people so id say from that it does its job effectively enough, i think theres no reason to complain even if you are more stingy about losing ranked points to better players why not treat quickplay, an enviornment that has ZERO risk to play as a learning experience?

plenty of people get hard stuck, I've been in high blue for the last week, currently kijin.

It doesn't bother me, it's like I know I'm not that good, I know I'm never going to get to God of destruction, but I'm just an online casual, it's not my job.

I'm not going to get better playing casual matches, if anything I'll just get worse. Playing rank is good mental training, casual matches, well you're playing for nothing, so you've got nothing on the line, so I don't even have the urge to try or care if I'm in casual matches
Ranked in this game has absolutely no meaning anyways. You cant judge at all basically the skill of someone else, they could either have more matchup knowledge or a lack of matchup coming from you, they could genuinely be better or just a spammer that you dont get how to counter. It goes without saying that the most looked at part, rank has zero meaning as anything warrior and above can basically be interchanged with purple ranks, people will have diff ranks on diff characters which might be lower than true rank, or you could be facing some garbage t8 newcomer who has infflated rank from spamming top tier heat and 5050s or constant plugging. Id even say that the only reason to worry about matchups and to not try and enjoy or learn from matches is if the other person is playing a character you hate

rank means something

you don't get to god of destruction unless you are extremely talented, it's not something you can scrub up to

if this game is so random or just pure guess work we'd all get to god of destruction eventually right? Sorry, that ain't happening

I highly, HIGHLY recommend playing ranked instead of quick game. Just get used to losing ranks. I recently lost 3 ranks in a single session. Nobody cares. Just enjoy the game and self coach yourself. Also set to +-2 ranks only for the best experience.

The more ranks you lose the easier the game becomes. Also very few players who play for a long time have over 52% win rate.
If you lose too many ranks it takes very few wins to get your rank back. I think you need like 7 wins or so per rank. Especially with +-2 ranks only setting.

as a casual player i agree with op, the matchamking is not as "random" as it was in tekken 7 (unranked mode)

most of time it is tiring to only face "max rank" players for a while when i simply play the game to have fun and not to become proplayer or anything else

Rule of thumb:

-If fighting game is brand new, play ranked.
-If fighting game is old af and on death's door, play casual.

Experience won't change much for you're bound to find some loose cannons, here and there, but it gets better, for the most part.

As a side note, they should REALLY start using Tekken Prowess when it comes to the matchmaking for the ranks, themselves, don't mean ♥♥♥♥ and they know it (hurr durr + or - 2/3). Everything is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tied to those damn points.
