I still lose so much more when I lose against someone 2 ranks higher

I just lost to a raijin and I lost nearly 1k points???? I was the one on a winstreak

edit: No its 100% confirmed now in the last 2 hours ive only lost 400 and up from higher ranks and lost only 200 from lower ranks?????

There's 2 types of streaks.

The one displayed, which counts every single match won regardless of opponent.

And a hidden one that only counts matches won/lost against people of the same rank or +/-1 rank. These affect point gains, and a streak of 3 in either direction will cause that match to have bonus points.

If your hidden streak is a loss streak, the 3rd loss in a row will take away and extra 560 points. If it's on a win streak, the 3rd win will give you a bonus of 500 points.

So you can totally have a win streak displayed but be on a loss streak for the hidden one because not all opponents you fave count. Hence why you lost 1k points despite being with a win streak displayed on screen.

Thats not possible because I have won against fuijin and raijin often, it just randomly cuts my rp with a ton after i lose once against their rank

While it's true that you lose more than you win, it's only by 20 points unless a streak is involved.

You could've won many times, but the previous matches vs those ranks before your on screen streak were losses which triggered the loss streak.

Check your replays for confirmation.

I know what you mean and it feels weird when you lose more against people at higher ranks but the system is still fair in a sense that all people face the exact same challange. People who are higher than you face even harsher ranking rules. I’ve just got 10 winstreak and it was still not enough to rank up when 4 loses can easily take most of my rank if they count towards hidden win streaks.
Unfair? Not really if all players face the same rules.
Also don’t worry about rank too much if you are not a pro streamer and don’t need God of Destruction for more views.

I have a sneaking suspicion that "engagement" and selling DLC is Namco's goal. WIth the current ranked system, There is little incentive to play and explore all characters- as it punishes you for playing more than ~3 characters.

I am SURE that Namco is seeing this and how it is impacting how people are playing.

I have no proof that they will currently in Tekken 8- but in Tekken 7, there were multiple changes to ranked over it's lifespan that did in fact change ranks for many players. It wasn't a full hard reset, more like a soft change to ranks. You could login and be a different rank after those situations.

My guess is that either the prowess ranked system is going to be changed or reverted further- or, Namco will reset ranks for each season of content.

Because with this current system, Namco will be hitting their own bottom-line. And we know Namco loves money.

I just played a game where I escaped my loss bonus.I'm currently TK trying to get to TE and I barely avoided my loss bonus and next game I play I lose and lost 1460 points after one loss.Can someone please explain to me cause I am so confused

There's a hidden streak system.

When you play against someone of your own rank, or +/-1 rank difference, the hidden streak will keep count, and when you win or lose 3 matches in a row against someone of your rank or +/-1 rank difference, you will either get a big point bonus, or lose a lot more points.

It only counts and takes into consideration matches against people who are your rank or +/-1, so if for example, you lose 2 against someone your rank, then win a few against someone +/-2 rank difference, if your next match against someone of your rank rank or +/-1 rank difference is a loss, the streak system will still trigger and give you the extra point penalty.

I’ve noticed when I beat someone higher rank than me, I get more points. So… just beat higher ranked players and don’t lose to those lower ranked than you? Old adage: you won’t lose points if you just win bro!
