With Lee, you can use slides repeatedly ( buffer/chain them), and there are ways to be annoying with him, like with many characters.
But yes, he is hard to play, not in terms of applying his gameplan(s), but in terms of execution of his optimized combos and pickups consistently.
You need good precision and the workload on the inputs is higher than average, which is why you see even tournament Lee players occasionally missing perfect frames punishes or dropping combos.
He is pretty good though, his only issue (for me) is that without b3,3, it is not so easy to maintain pressure and his stepping is average. He is well balanced between being an attacker and counter hit character. His lows are very good and his wall damage is his strong point.
But he still remains technical. Though on contrary to his t7 counterpart he can be a braindead mix machine.
In t7 he had to poke or slide. Not anymore.
I wouldn't use the word braindead with him to be honest. He is actually one of the most technical character in the game.
Name me more than 3 characters with more workload on the inputs, harder optimized combos, perfect frames punishers, and tight windows pickups ?
Because if Lee is braindead, what adjective should we use about Eddy, Victor or Azucena? :)
Is "there are honest characters" your excuse to not get gud? That's what it means. To stop the complaints and play more to actually git gud.
Lee is a pretty rare character to meet, so I can understand why some find him hard to play against, it's mostly about lack of experience, which people excuse with "dishonest character"
