Aggressive, ...or Exhausting?
I'm trying not to make too many hard predictions about the direction of the game considering how much changed with Tekken 7 balance over time. But are we actually trying to make the game fun for the players at this point? It seems like so much of the design philosophy of this game is about removing the ability to play defensively so that everyone plays in each others faces eating plus frames for big cool EVO moments.

But is that really fun at all? Is the focus really on the players enjoyment, or primarily on the spectacle of the EVO viewer?

The most famous evo moment ever called „The Evo Moment 37” is about defending in a defence oriented game.

Just saying.

Spectacle for the masses.

That's just a part of history.
those in charge of the game direction want the game to be exciting to spectate , but the way they went about is is dumb

aggressive is good more fun and better than sloppy and fall asleep boring gameplay. I like this tekken 8 concept. Try compare other game then. None better than tekken 8.

Gameplay is awesome because it's fast-paced and overwhelming.

They just need to tune it a bit because dodging and blocking are useless tools (there's power crush and heat for that, anyway).

A lot of times I think about throwing matches just because of how exhausting it is. Sometimes I actually do.

Definitely exhausting. The icing on the cake are odd interactions that ruin your momentum. For example, Bryans’s snake edge is sometimes safe on block at the tip of its hitbox. This Nina player I fought learned a harsh lesson when their while standing snake edge punish failed to connect:

That is normal for many moves including snake edge for other characters. But you are risking a whiff punish more.

it's the constant stun block of plus frames unga bunga sequences with 50-50 forced guessing and the constant momentum breaking by the heat and rage panic buttons that makes the gameplay tiresome

the flow of this game is like a car that's constantly hitting the breaks every 5 seconds on the highway

this style of tekken is definitely not fun

the gameplay needs to flow like a snowboard on a snow track not like an 8 year old trying to drive a car

in this game you spend more time waiting for sequences to end than actually playing

Yesterday I met a super defensive player at my rank. His defence was really good but when I activated heat I could literally turn over 50% of his health bar into grey.
This mechanics forces people to do risky hard reads to interrupt the attacks as blocking can get you killed.
mechanics that instantly stop momentum shouldn't exist because they ruin the flow of the gameplay

I think toning back heat stuff and chip damage would do so much, also toning back how many properties moves have more broadly would do a lot of good. Toning back the range on some moves, removing unnecessary tracking, ridiculous damage, etc..

I also personally don't understand the "Buffing > Nerfing" mentality in game design especially when buffing and nerfing things has drastically different effects from game to game especially if the games are of a different genre

Giving everyone access to super powers sounds fun until you realize you have to sit and hold the other persons super powers for 1/2 the match

Namco probably has some numbers showing that people are more likely to drop the game if their main got nerfed.

Aggressive is better. People are sick chasing after dorks waiting for you to get bored enough to throw out a risky move so they can ONCE AGAIN do their stupid little backdash and punish and call themselves geniuses. It's dumb. It always has been dumb.

That's not how fighting should go. If you cower away you should get your ass kicked.

How this is being accomplished might be an issue, but it is a step in the right direction.
