People should shout out at Harada/Murray on Twitter until this is reverted, at last.
this was made to counter smurfing, to prevent new players from constantly getting matched with veterans and constantly getting demolished
i imagine this is one of the reasons the playerbase has tanked so much , people new to tekken got tired of getting stomped and quit... namco has realized whats been happening and has taken action
But I guess that's the price that you pay for wanting to play as different characters against real players in the only mode that is, at least theoretically, fair by default.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. This is a horrible change. One is not suddenly a god with every other character if they just go up in rank a little to try out a new strategy. Yet prowess goes up a lot. Smurfing is NOT fixed, people can either intentionally derank, make a new account, or, more stupidly, the DLC characters all start at Beginner rank. With this change our secondary \ tertiary \ whatever character of the day not only has to wait 5+ minutes in a queue since the playerbase is too small to accomodate this change, but 80\20 chance one gets matched with a player waaay up their league, making it a useless beatdown (smurfing??)
How about NOT facing 5 devil jin Tekken Gods in a row and the SAME 5 all day for all week? How about having actual fun?
Playerbase is shrinking, but not because of that. Tekken is a VERY difficult game and majority of players, who got stomped, simply dont want to learn. Im low rank and barely know anything beside basics (orange, reaching for red) and even if im playing against red, in 90% they are using some "cheesy" tactic and nothing else and If i manage to counter it, they quit...
I'm in Dominator and I just got three matches in a row. Took like 2 minutes for the first match, but everyone after that I instantly saw the "found opponent" message. Also atlantic/eastern canada, playing after work between 5-10pm depending on the day, and some weekends.
If I'm playing at like, 10-1am, it gets kinda bad, and I'll get repeat opponents, but that's to be expected, especially joining a fighting game months after it coming out.
Not trying to be a ♥♥♥♥ but the only way that's possible is if you disconnected a LOT and got tossed into the naughty/unsportsmanlike queue, and kept doing it.
But thats the point of prowess...
