Yeah, no. The difference is that Asuka might genuinely have the easiest execution of any character in the series. I say this as someone who has mained Asuka since Tag 2 (I've now dropped her for Reina and Jun).
Asuka basically doesn't have to work for her damage at all. She can bypass knowledge checks through her evasive panic moves. She has a reversal to get rid of pressure from jabbing. Asuka is not a character that makes you learn the game until a far higher rank where the gimmicks no longer work.
Asuka works in low level because people press too much and she pretty much destroys mashers.
Someone running into every b3 or getting caught by every single cancans says alot more about her opponent than about asuka as a character.
This hasn't changed in this game as her panic moves are still there and still good.
But against good opponents in this game, she's incredibly ♥♥♥♥.
And with Jun being a top tier rn, why bother? I dumped asuka completely even tho I can easily climb to hight ranks with her still.
Not interested in wasting my time on a crappy character anymore.
But yeah I agree with you. My first main was Jun in tekken 2 and I preferred her in tag 2. Now that she is back there is not much reason to play Asuka anymore.
