The fact he isn’t even in the game’s opening intro says everything to me.
Miguel was a way more popular character and got sidelined for this clown
Someone paid up and now the franchise is stuck with him. Marvelous.
While everyone is suddenly cool with Jin, Miguel defies him and turns into a vicious enemy until he is defeated for good and is forced to accept that Jin's idea was the best one, even though it was hella stupid.
Plus it would make Jin's redemption much more believable if the words came straight from his mouth, even. I can even picture an emotional moment where Miguel cries after hearing Jin's sincere apologies and that Jin, himself, is suffering like no one is.
