He's not exciting once you're veteran at the game. At that point you start getting excited about things like ducking and perfectly launching strings with highs, or perfectly executed sidesteps - or my personal favourite: Running up to the opponent then standing completely still. Any cutscene is going to feel tedious once you've seen it for the hundredth time.
Can't say I particularly like King any more, but I sure did when I was about 10 years old. Plus it wouldn't feel like Tekken without him.
