they shoulda allowed for offline progress like SF6 does, perhaps they will add that someday. but not right now.
Sure should work with any online pvp fight.
guess i can relax more now
Nope, you get absolutely nothing from playing offline. The only way to progress the battle pass is through playing online matches and completing missions, all of which require playing online.
Yeah, I know, it sucks.
I'm pretty sure that the possibility of AFK farming battle pass rewards is the main reason why it only works online.
I came from MK1, and there even at low ranks, the person I'm up against has clearly watched a ton of youtube tutorials in order to get two perfects in a row with 80% combos. To the point I would just start the match and then go make a coffee and just take the loser points.
I don't want everyone to let me win. I just want to play on my own and still unlock things on the battlepass as I play. I don't think that's too much to ask, especially when I'm paying for the ability to start unlocking the stuff.
I hear you.
I just don't think moving more people away from ranked is the solution. That only makes the problem worse. Fighting games have a notoriously high bar of entry.
The genre needs to get people like you to enjoy ranked.
I think they've done all they can to help people like me with the great practice/tutorial mode. But it's just not what I'm interested in. I like switching characters constantly and not getting too deep with any of them, like I would when unlocking arcade endings on the older games. Finding basic combos on my own, and having movie-like fights is what I love doing. But having to learn all the meta stuff and frame data etc. is when I zone out.
I probably have thousands of hours in Tag2 just playing ghost battles and finding all the classic outfit pieces to make my own combinations and colour schemes. Same with 7's Treasure Battle and 6's Scenario Campaign.
I don't understand why they would now decide to lock cosmetics to online only.
Again, especially when you need to pay to earn the right to unlock them.
1)You don't lose any ranked points until Warrior rank.
2)There are 32 playable characters (Kuma/Panda is just a skin swap, get real).
So Ranked is a no pressure zone, for the most part. Plus there are the servers of the Lounge. Switching to chill regions, such as Asia, can give you more fun than suffering to hell and back in the Americas.
Don't even go near Quick Match, though. You have been warned.
1) Start a player room called "BP farming" or "Battle points farming" or "free wins" or "win rate % boost"
2) set unlimited amount of fights but minimum time and 1 round.
3) wait for players to join you and beat you or you beat them
4) profit
There are extra points for winning rounds but it's not needed.
If you have a turbo function in a controller and have a friend who also want to farm, then you can do it away from keyboard.
I think you can do the same on a keyboard with some software to add turbo function so you can keep rematching.
Also - even if you do nothing but losing your BP will still progress.
