TEKKEN 8

TEKKEN 8

Let's Talk: Busted Characters
So, currently, there's 7 characters in the game that are pretty much the "real Tekken", because if it's them against someone else from the rest of the cast, at the same skill level and both players know the matchup, it's just one person that gets to play the game, while the other just tries to survive.

Those 7, in almost no particular order are: Reina, Dragunov, Feng, Jun, Devil Jin, Jin and Xiaoyu.

Their current gameplay is just "spam the safest bs currently available", and if that bs has some evasion too, it's even better.

Dragunov's bs is busted that you don't need huge evasion on said bs (granted, has "lol -9 can still evade and launch you with qcb2"), sure, but that bs is so overpowed that even with no evasion on it, it's still able to carry like no other.

Reina gameplay? ff2, kbd, ff2, kbd, ff2 > 50-50, kbd, ff2.

Feng? Jack of all trades, Supreme Grand Master of all, because that one has no weakness and all his moves are busted. His damage is among the best as well. Homing initiation from range seven into forced 50-50 on block. He has all the bs he was known for, on top of one of the most busted Heats in the game, if not the most busted Heat.

Jun is way too safe with way too much string abuse, and her hopkick can still launch even if you convert it into a safe move. Her Heat is also pretty retarded too, and her Heat recovering health on block apparently was a glitch and she wasn't recovering as much as health as she should've. Her punishment game is extremely top tier too.

Jin? Zen u1.

Need I go more with all characters?

All of them have the best neutral in the game, but their unga bunga 50-50 gamble with extremely good risk reward is also bonkers, and when they enter Heat, it's like you typed TGM in the console in Skyrim. Also, let's not even get started with how much tracking those characters have.

Alas, you know the rest, discuss.

What about him u feel is OP? Honestly backturn is really good esp with throws, SS3 is really good and needs a clean to launch, but like besides that everything has counterplay so I dont really feel he is that OP. His leap from heat has like a million startup frames and u can hit him out of it with any fast high for example. And DB3 is launch punishable etc.
He has tools for everything (which used to be the defining feature of him way back when), but he always had no combo damage, just watch his S1 T7 combos. Safe armored heat engager, ton of reach, 2 best panic moves in the game, best poke in the game, insane QCF mixup, true 50\50 throw from backturn, heat 3+4 allows for safe mixups, or just baiting people into whiffing, when they they you might throw it out, combo damage is great, and requires 0 execution.
TL:DR - there's a lot of problems right now. I don't agree with the sentiment, that Feng is the most OP character, I think it comes from people who just don't know even the main ways to avoid the most agregious stuff he can throw out. Jun, Drag, DJ, in my opinion, are way more OP, but their OPness comes from a lower quantity of moves, than in Feng's case.
That said - I think that most characters in this game need to be toned down, throws need to be reverted to their T7 state and heat system needs to be toned down

That's all you can say about Dragunov? What a letdown.

I like how you always try to downplay his problems.

"Reina gameplay? ff2, kbd, ff2, kbd, ff2 > 50-50, kbd, ff2." - that's why having kbd ingame is a bad idea. At least it's better than kbd into electric of Kazuya.

But why would it even bother you when your char literally solve this problem for you? Cause it was created to do that?

I will ask him as I don't know if he ever gave an explanation. Not sure if he’ll answer.

Here is just a random video where he lost to Alisa.

I dont know tekken 8 alisa but unless she got buffed there is no way she is better than those he mentioned.Thing is, he is a pro and labbed , while i didnt even look at alisa once and probably never will.

Try to ask people who know her or lab them yourself and make your own opinion
Vahel Apr 5, 2024 @ 7:40am
I think most pro player are putting Alisa and Nina at the top of their tierlist because they're mostly fighting against KiraKira22 and Jodd, who are very good on those characters. It's just another case of pro player being stuck in their own bubble once more imo.
They have very solid tools, but currently top 7 ? Come on ahah.

Nah I made this list we decided to keep it quiet but he posted cos I was banned at the time, some of the GOATS of Tekken all agree with it too.

Was fun seeing Anubis get biased hate replies though.

I will not be playing Alisa in T8, I am gonna stick to Jin/Zaf.

Guess who's on that List?

Ya'll just had your biases shown beyond shown.

Btw various top tier players have NP with my list and agree with it, these are players that would whoop anyone in this thread quite hard and I mean anyone.

Btw, just watched a video on Ars, didn't use any pro's to make my tier list, he agrees on the top 7 char to char.

hahahahaha

Knee's list is also very similar.

Both think DVJ is a huge problem, people here are like "He's easy to beat".

The top tier pros and myself and some other Tekken Goats have an issue and can see problems.

We clap Alisa ez and see DVJ as an issue.

You guys see Alisa as hard and DVJ as ez? damn aight.

I wonder though it is curious why better players come to the same conclusions and worse players come to the same conclusions.

That is an interesting element for sure.

Having kbd is bad? You should be muted on the forums for such scrub heresy asap.

JoKa said that Alisa is stronger than King, Jun, Jin, Devil Jin and players like Arslan Ash or SuperAkouma didn't even blink an eye.

Who is this Joka?

I just watched Arslan and Knee, they didn't mention Alisa, King, Jin or Jun. (Jin was the only one not mentioned in their list that was in mine and I can understand why they feel that way)

Arslans list is literally almost identical to mine the hell you on about?

You picking the worse player who is fundamentally and worse at tekken than miles over those two? wild.

What's even wilder is I came to these conclusions without watching a tier list.

Everyone in here got so much confirmation bias it's insane.

70% of the argument here is "Anubis u just biased cos you play Alisa"

Now that we're removed that and proven that I was gonna say the entire arguments get dismissed cos "oh you play x chararachter" social experiment.

Everyone lost their wild card, what now? Actual conversation?

Honestly I don't even know what's to discuss here.
Dragunov, Feng, Xiaoyu, Jun, DJ, Reina, King, Azucena and Jin are a staple for this list. (I said previously that I don't see Reina and Jin in Top 7, but for me Reina is top 8 and Jin top 10 so it's just interchangeable at this point)

Strongly disagreeing with this list would be weird lol, and the discussion would just be people complaining about who denied them their last promo in ranked, or some nitpicking about the intricacies of who should truly be in this Top 7.
