If you consider switching to arcade stick, trust me when I say that, it requires a lot of practice to be any decent with. You're gonna suck for a while compared to pad, especially if you play heavy execution characters. I've played for at least 2 years on stick and some things are still easier on pad.
Hitbox/Keyboard is the strongest option, if you can utilize it well. I can't do kbd and wavedash on it well, cause my middle and ring-finger feel like they're fighting each other.

Hey that's the same stick I have (original lever though).
I agree, with your assessment. I have a great mechanical keyboard but I never tried playing fighting games with it, always stick for me, although really am thinking about picking up hitbox / leverless device.
However there is not a single controller that is universally better as it's a matter of preference. You have different pros using all 3 control types.
