To be honest I can’t deal with rank at the moment, even in blue I still see pluggers. I tried playing rank yesterday and my very first game my opponent plugs so I just switched to quick play instead
What’s the point of a rank system if there is no plugging punishment. The % disconnect is disabled because the game has crashing issues and until that’s fixed rank is just a waste of time
depends to which season u refer to, I guess, but in general such a general statement is BS (well, for some chars maybe not). the games and rank systems are different, not really comparable. btw, there is no commonly accepted translation of rank to skill level - in tekken 7 some ppl argued even that every rank below fujin was a noob rank - from a pro point of view, this might seem plausible, but casuals would disagree, I guess, and I disagree too, a red or purple ranked player could easily win against all ranks below them... in tekken 8 (atm at least), I think all orange ranked players could easily win against lower ranks
For sure, purple in T8 is more akin to orange/red in T7. T8 ranks are very generous since you can't get demoted past warrior. So, green T7 players most likely would land around orange/red in T8, and orange/red T7 players might find themselves at purple/high purple even.
If they're at least mid blue in T8, I can guarantee that they were also blue in Tekken 7. Where I'm at, finding players in blue ranks during non-peak hours seems to have very similar wait-times for finding a match in T7. I've already fought against the same players multiple times.
Tekken 8 is kind of like Tekken 7, but not really. There was another player that was lamenting about how T8 gave too much aggressive options that limit defense, but I like that change. There's always a risk-reward to those type of interactions, and I'm okay with properly guessing it, because it makes it easier for me to reliably gather information on how the opponent wants to play. What I dislike is DVJ and Dragunov. I can comfortably play against high-blue/low gold players, but any player whether they are purple or low blue as those two characters, I struggle against them.

I’ve reached Mighty ruler with Gigas in T7.
I also reached Mighty ruler in T8 but with high tier chars like Victor and Alisa and I have more trouble holding my rank.
It feels different but there is no way purple is like orange in T7. Not on PC at least. T7 on consoles was a bit more difficult.
but some how, in TK8. my Shaheen is still red
Statistically that's not even true at all if you look at the stats, I would say high yellow low Brown ranks is the new green at this point. Everyone one gets funnelled into yellow so it's the new hell but its still early days and there are still a bunch of good players who havent been able to play enough still in red. Also like it or not some characters get an easier ride up the ranks than others at the low end. so theres some relatively bad players in the purples/reds still
my friends who are around god rank in tekken 7 are still around Fujin in 8
and who was red in 7 are still yellow-orange
and its region dependent too
yesterday, i match with someone from "that legendary region" who was Fujin Leroy and play like green rank
which region is "legendary" ? lol
It’s both ways at the same time. People get yellow for free but it’s get harder earlier. Each rank feels like a big gap. There are tournaments level players still in blue when in T7 almost every streamer had omega rank.
You are better than your opponent - they plug before the end of the game, so you get no ranking points.
You are evenly matched with your opponent - win or lose, they refuse a rematch, so you gain only minimal ranking points.
Your opponent is better than you - you lose ranking points.
The result of this is that even though I win more games than I lose, my rank still doesn't really go anywhere - and getting a best of three set with anyone other than blue ranks is rare.
I've found I'm enjoying the game much more, as well as improving more as a player, by doing Player Matches with people I've found here on the Discussion boards. Extended sets let you get much more familiar with the level of play of your opponent, as well as getting a more holistic view of what a character's toolkit is like. Playing against blue+god players has been pretty inspiring for me, as they're able to defend in a way my usual opponents just don't. Scrubby Lars aggression doesn't work, so I am needing to learn the neutral again. It's much like Tekken 7 Lars, but with higher margin for getting your butt punished.
so T8 s1 garyu is gonna be s4 bushin
