Lidia is underappreciated as a female character in T7. Here's why.
Most of the female characters in Tekken are either three things. Dancing, evasiveness, fan-service. Lidia was built off of none of these three in mind. She has an honest Karate move set (more honest than Jin), doesn't reveal a lot of skin and mid-section (didn't get a bikini unless you get a mod), and isn't too defensive and has a good pressure move set.

She also looks different than the females in Tekken 7, scratch that, different model altogether. She has a different body type, you can tell because she ACTUALLY HAS MUSCLES. She also has a scar on her face and didn't have that generic barbie doll face like Asuka, Alisa, Lili, and Xiaoyu had. Someone went through the codes and took off the hair and make-up from the female characters and most of them look the same, while you can vividly tell who's Lidia.

Her game play design is also cool. You get "whoosh" sounds when you enter stances, her hits felt like they actually had weight, and she hits hard. Hopefully the leaks are true and she comes back as DLC soon.

Julia would also fit the whole serious strong design and moveset if they didn't go full meme with her in TTT2 and T7

She's alright, but as a female character she doesn't interest me. And your reasons are correct.

- Karate doesn't look very feminine
- Too much visible muscle undermines femininity
- Scars and skin blemishes hurt female beauty

There's probably more to it, but I can't put my finger on it right now.

I find her likeable in terms of personality, but as a female.. not that interesting.

It's true in Tekken 7 they made the female faces way too generic-looking, but they fixed it in Tekken 8, now for example I can see Xiaoyu's Chinese features.
Could write a long thing explaining just why I agree with OP on every point, but.. like.. Yeah, I agree on every point. Awesome character.

"Karate doesn't look very feminine." It doesn't really have to "look" like anything. It's martial arts. Fun fact also, the percentage of women who attain black belt is much higher than that of men.

"Too much visible muscle undermines femininity." Subjective, very at that, there's plenty of females that go to the gym and still look very feminine.

"Scars and skin blemishes hurt female beauty." Maybe, but you can also say this for male looks as well. I'm not mentioning her scar to compliment looks, I'm using to help my case of her looking different, which it does, also pretty much every character in the franchise are one-dimensional in terms of personality.

Having said that though.. I think the muscles and the skin are not the problem after all. It still looks alright, she doesn't look ugly or anything.

Maybe just not my type.

This is a fighting game not Victoria's Secret. You don't have to get married to your character. We need strong badass female characters like Lidia and Reina, that actually look like they can kick your ass in real life, but can also be charming and good looking.

You say Karate isn't feminine. You're absolutely wrong. What kind of view is this? If Law is Bruce Lee, Lidia is like a Cynthia Rothrock sort of character. She portrayed some very attractive female characters. Lidia will beat up her opponents with brute force and with such brutality, but it still fits her character and doesn't diminish her attractiveness.

Enough with the boring doll face characters with cute anime voices. We need more tough female characters. Look at some of the old Kung Fu movies with so many great and strong female characters. Those are what we need in Tekken.
I dont like Lidia

You don't need to agree with everything I say, but you started this topic to understand reasons why she isn't as popular as a female character specifically.

I'm just explaining the possible reasons why.

Not saying that your taste in women is not valid, just saying that statistically there are certain things men tend to prefer in a female character.

We already have tough female characters: Nina and (hopefully soon) Anna.

Anna especially is very feminine and attractive while still being very dangerous.

No I don't think we do, we already have many female characters, about 1/3rd of the cast which is a lot for a fighting game.. I agree with him, we want females to be attractive and feminine if they are put in, otherwise I'd rather see male characters instead for credibility's sake.

Fair enough, Its a fantasy fighting game but a minimum of credibility is needed at some point. There is a reason women don't compete with men at UFC or in olympic boxing or don't lift containers at the dockyard..I am not against Lidia being implemented, but I wouldn't want many more added just to meet a female quota.

I like Anna more than Nina and both are "tough" but they're kind of cliche. Nina is the cold-hearted blond haired assassin with a cold heart that's been done a billion times. Anna is trapped in Nina's story of how she needs to "prove she's the better sister" even though she proved that since Tekken 3 in my opinion. Both were also fan-serviced since Tekken 2 so there's that.

Besides that, muscle mommies are hot! I'd love to see them break out of using basically the same body type for every female.

Hell, give us a thicc (grappler) character who can crack your skull with her thighs, like using one of the crossfit athletes e.g. Dani Speegle as inspiration for the character model for example.
