Tekken 8 Winrate & Playrates at Ruler+
So, we have some new stats, and there's something really interesting when we look at the character playrate and winrate.

So, here's the top 10 winrates (without numbers because I can't be assed to eyeball it, will post link at the end) and I'll post their popularity spot as well in a parenthesis next to them, let's see if you guys can notice something that's really interesting.

1. Panda (32)
2. Zafina (31)
3. Shaheen (29)
4. Kuma (28)
5. Alisa (20)
6. Claudio (27)
7. Dragunov (1)
8. Nina (24)
9. Devil Jin (15)
10. Leo (26)

Ok, if you haven't noticed anything, lemme point it out, out of the top 10 winrates, only 2 characters are in the top half of most played characters, and I say top half because Devil Jin is literally at the tail end of the "most played" half, spot the other one.

Here's the link, feel free to discuss:

Yeah, when no one uses a character you don’t get a lot of info on how to play against them. It happens to a lot of low tiers early on in fighting games until people learn their weaknesses. That being said anyone can be good in the right hands.

it was a joke ^ ^'

its a quote from Harada when he heard that a Panda won Evo

And once again people don't want to spend even 10 minutes exploring other characters. I get that Alice is a test of your memory, but bears and more ridiculously, Zafina? Seriously? The enemy doesn't even need to do anything as they will kill themselves.
I've played with Zafina for too long in T7, and I don't see how you can lose to her in T8.

Nina is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ strong, for me she can even win an evo. She can play very safe, she can disintegrate your white bar with one move and no longer needs a Butterfly loop to send you into the wall and the combos are easy and hurt, her mobility is among the top tier... for me it's very underrated at the moment when it comes to top tier characters, no one ever mentions her
lets wait for EVO. I consider the state of game is complete after like 4 EVOs (2 years)

I wouldn't say Nina is out of the ordinary.

To me at least she's not character that's an issue. I faced a bunch, and out of them all, the only one who got the best of me was a Nina in my friendliest, but the guy is better than me, so it wasn't Nina that was the reason for my loss. The ones in ranked however were utter trash.

I can see why people cry about her when they don't know the matchup, but that's a skill issue.
The Panda one is literally just Rangchu. Remember that the smaller the playerbase for a character, the more unreliable their win rate is as an overall gauge of the character's relative strength.

These results are generally positive though. 55%-45% is generally where you want everything to be. It feels like a fair reflection of the overall state of the game to me. Dragunov and Alisa are definitely the characters I most struggle with, and I pretty much never see the other top performing characters anyway so don't really have an opinion, but fights are still contestable.

The most striking character here I think is King. Second highest play rate in Advanced, but 4th from bottom in win rate within the same group. Not sure what to make of that.
A Zafina player won that TNS 9 tournament over the weekend

A character that people seem to love to name drop when talking about ‘weak’ characters

Combined with this data it really just makes a mockery of all these boring clickbait tier lists churned out by so called ‘pro’ players

It’s sad that nobody exercises the simple concept of giving things time

Zafina sucks, just lab her. I know, you don't know how to lab chars, but if you were to lab her and try to use your brain a bit while doing that, you'd quickly realize why people say zafina is bad.
Does that mean she can't win? No of course not, even the worst characters are viable. Always have been in tekken. So your argument falls flat yet again. Dude can you have a good take for once please?

Case and point, jeondding won CEO with eddy, rangchu won TWT with panda, in EU tournaments even gigas managed to win a couple.
Did that change the fact that these characters were horrible? No, they were still crap.
And to find out why all you had to do is lab them and see for yourself.
Just blindly listening to tier lists is silly, that much is true at least, but currently you're just dismissing it entirely to feed your fragile ego.
Your character = weak, other character = strong.
I just looked at the top 8 for the TNS 9 tourney. I’d edit my previous post but two posts blocked below me have been made

There was an Asuka in the top 8, another character people like to call ‘low tier’. Yet there was no Jun or Xiaoyu players

I think they should buff Xiaoyu and Jun and nerf Asuka and Zafina. I mean if they can make top 8 and even win the tourney they are clearly too strong

Time to revise that tier list. Buff Xiaoyu and Jun, nerf Asuka and Zafina, it’s the common sense thing to do. Tournament results mean more than a clickbait tier list ever will

I miss Gigas so much. :skele:

And again, he's not being honest here. He's trying to make the argument that a characters strength should be meassured on tournament appearences, but we're just one month into tekken 8, so that argument by itself makes no sense as there barely has been any tournaments yet.

And as I said before, low tier characters have won major tournaments, that didn't make them top tier chars however. Tekken is just a rather unique fighter where the amount of options every character have, defensive and offensive, allow for everyone to be able to win.
Still, playing zafina, asuka, maybe even leroy, these character will make it harder on you than someone like Jun, Xiaoyu, Dragunov, Jin or Devil Jin.
That's why someone like rangchu, despite having good results with panda, learned Julia on the side. Cuz he also understood that if he mastered an objectively better character, he will have a greater impact eventually.

He's trying to be snarky and sarcastic here and makes it sound like his actual point is that tier lists never matter. But if you read his other posts you quickly realize that he tends to cry about all kinds of nonsense all the time. So we can easily tell that he himself very much believes in tiers. He's just very unhappy that his two characters are considered top tier. He feels like it takes away from his wins.

And idgaf if he blocked me. I'm debunking his nonsense either way.

If a character's tournament appearance was what dictate strength, in T7, Julia, Marfuk and most importantly, Akuma should've been in need of buffs, because at the tail end of the game's life, I don't think anyone played them in tournaments.
