Punishment training
Maybe this might sound clueless and such, but how does Punishment training work?
I mean, I get that you need to hit your opponent in... a sequence. But is it mid move, after move, before move?
It seems I can't get the timing right because I don't quite understand when to do my punishment.

while you block the unsafe move, you input your punish move.

right after blocking, you do your punish move

Not exactly, you actually buffer while blocking. Some moves you have to do it right after which is why they're hard to punish with. Like electric. You can not buffer electric.

ah, right, while blocking, not after blocking
my bad >.<

Aha. I thought I should input after their sequence.

Well, you pretty much start inputting right before the move is over.

you gotta be really careful with the moves you choose to punish with.
I did the punish training with my current character (asuka) and the game told me to punish with 2,3. and fair enough, it works BUT if I'm just 1 frame too slow, I'm the one who ends up being launch punishable so I basically never use it now. too much of a risk.

You just need to practice hitting that punish reliably, every character's best punishes are punishable if they get blocked. That doesn't mean you shouldn't use them.

Like you shouldn't jab punish a launch punishable move just because you're scared of being too slow. Take your opportunity to launch punish and if you mess it up, oh well.

I usually prefer consistency over high risk high reward and just use 1,3 instead.

It's not high risk, it's guaranteed. The only thing stopping you from doing it is a very, very small execution barrier.

Trust me, just practice it a bit and very quickly you'll realize that choosing to go for a worse punish was a silly idea.

2,3 is her optimal 12 frame punish and you definitely should use it to punish.
If you're too late that can be fixed with some practice. I played asuka for a long time and I almost never mess that up.
It's a bufferable move so it shouldn't be a problem.
