as a preasure character, he's top tier, even better than king.
Paul literally kill you in three hit. Even in low three hits. Dragunov unseemable power low does 23-25 damage. How is Dragunov more broken than Paul?
about paul...he struggles without being close to opponent and his lows are meh so he is not one of most beginner friendly characters that teach basics well, but still pretty solid pick for beginners
You gonna spend the entirety of tekken 8 downplaying dragunov now even though the vast majority of players agree that he's one of the best character in this game?
Do you get off on being a clown or what is it?
Nobody likes people downplaying their mains, especially not when their mains are top tier characters.
Every character is capable of 50% combos and running you over with heat
The game is so formulaic in its design, no character deviates from this design structure
Imagine thinking that's all what makes a character good in this game is being able to do 50% combos and having heat attacks.
If it only was that simple, but I guess a xiaoyu player wouldn't know better.
Never played MK1
SF6 has similar design structure with everyone doing similar damage combo wise
I’d say one of the games balancing issues is that characters without OD reversals generally struggle in that game because they have a weak wake up game and are easier to pressure than characters with reversals
In Tekken 8 everyone has the same mechanics. Everyone has a power crush, heat, heat smash, RA etc and similar damage combos. It’s a very homogenised structure throughout
Games are being pushed into very agressive playstyles to make it a bigger spectacle.
The devs of fighting games are trying to solve the age old problem fighting games have, which is that they have horrible player retention rates after launch.
So they try to make them easier and easier and more bombastic to keep players around longer. Especially now when these games have cash shops, they want as much retention as possible.
And how do you make newcommers feel good? Lots of bling and boom and bang, very mixups heavy gameplay that allows you to beat players far beyond your skill level and ranked systems that give you the impression of being better than you actually are.
Not too sure this is a healthy way for a fighting game to be like and I don't think it has been working.
At least making games easier or "more accesible" as they say, by dumbing down execution requirements, has not really helped player retention whatsoever. They've been trying that with so many games since like sf4.
