as opposed to what ?
why it stupid
why it dumb
I ain't buying 500 coins when I need 400 to buy a skin I might want.
Just let me pay 4€ directly.
Because it's forcing players to overbuy Tekken coins. Costumes cost 400 coins, but the lowest coin bundle you can buy has 500 coins. So now you're left with 100 coins leftover. A new costume comes out that you want, and now you need to buy another 500 coin bundle to get a costume, and then you have 200 coins leftover. See the issue?
It's a mobile games tactic. Instead of letting players buy the costumes they want outright at the exact amount, they're forced to overspend on coin bundles they end up having leftover coins with.
It's an incredibly predatory tactic.
Selling minimum packs of Tekken coins in packs of 500 when the costumes cost 400.
Let me pay the exact amount for the single item I want instead of making me do currency conversion or keep 100 tekken coins I cant spend on anything and pray that the shop produces 4 more items so money doesn't go to waste,
They could just sell DLC like last game. People didn't complain about cosmetics then.
The update made things worse.
They censored COLORS in the most recent update. Now my Alyssa can't have certain Nude colors on costumes because heaven forbid she look like a barbie doll.
They killed PS2 controller support.
The Costumes being sold are old costumes that the mod community has available for free. At this point you are paying to make other people see your skin.
I was willing to buy the skins for the lulz and to dabb on the people complaining about the cash shop and support the game, but seeing how they did the coin system I realize they were right and I was wrong. It is scummy.
You don't get 500 coins for $4, you pay $5 for 500 coins and spend 400 for a skin.
So no, you don't get anything for free. You paid for it.
Just wait till they charge 600 coins for costumes and people have to purchase 1000 coins to get the costumes.
So far, the minimum amount you can buy is more than you need (which is also stupid since you're forced into investing more than you want, but not as scummy, and evens out if you intended to buy more costumes in the long run), and the leftovers are for fireworks.
But if you're stupid enough to buy those, you weren't gonna spend that money wisely anyway and you deserve to get ripped off.
I am aware of even scummier tactics but the existence of even worse tactics doesn't really excuse this.
I don't understand why you'd even entertain this whataboutism. There's is zero reason to defend bandai namco on this.
