Like I said the only guaranteed set up for her back heat smash is a highly punishable, avoidable heat only, non true block string in F+2,1,2

None of her other back facing normals put her in plus frames where the heat smash is guaranteed

So if you’re forced to take the 50/50 it’s entirely on you

If the F+2,1,2 was a true block string I’d the be the first to say that’s busted and needs nerfing but it isn’t. Almost like the developers knew what they were doing, heh

we are talking about heat smash, not some string.
both her heat smashes are not mid steppable.
you have to block it all the way through, and it puts you at a disadvantage when you block it, also on minus, with her backturned heatsmash giving her free powered up hypnotist stance, where the opponent won't recover quickly enough to 'punish', and is forced into a guessing game.

when people say that Xiaoyu has control at all times and forces every opponent into playing to her tune, then they mean it.

the 50/50s in that case are all not optional, unless you know you're on P1 side and sidestep left.

so it can be useful in local offline matches.
on the P2 side though, you just can't step it anyway.

No we’re taking about the string because on block it’s her only guaranteed set up for the back heat smash

Any other normal, any time she turns her back on you she is minus, you have plus frames to work with it. So if she tries to heat smash and you press buttons you win

I’m not asking you to side step the heat smash. Please stop focusing on something that’s not relevant here

The main issue with xiaoyu and many others chars in this game right now is that pressure is too real which means you have to block alot in a game that punishes you for blocking too much.
Reasonably every stance needs to have some way to consistently deal with it.
But in T8 that is not the case, every stance has become a true mixup, turning this game into a crazy guessing game.
To say it simple, stances cover too many options.

Xiaoyu mains don't understand this because they think a stance is useless unless it covers every option the defender has.
That's because they don't understand conditioning and timings, which is how you used to make stances work despite obvious weaknesses.
In T8 they took any of that away. Now every stance has mid tracking left, right, homing highs, powercrushes, strong lows, grabs (which are also homing in this game), and safe options to opt out of it.

Tekken 8 is basically early SF5 now and I think we'll see a ton of upsets in the early tournaments, just like in early sf5.

So the third hit of the ling string is not parriable by law (either parry) and can be stepped to Law's Right on P2 Side.

On P1 side- step right.

It can be beaten- However, the timing is strict and larger characters won't be able to consistently step this string. If near a wall or corner you are taking the mix it seems.

You can trade with a powercrush- but since Ling is airborne, she takes reduced dmg ans is not a good trade- unless a wall is behind her and less than range 2 away.

Im pretty sure this isn't a balancing patch what-so-ever. This is just to fix certain issues that happened often.

Yes it's mainly a patch to adress obvious oversights.

if you still have heat it's the easiest way to shut it down, the moment you start blocking the string just hold back and mash the heat button, you'll interrupt the final hit of the string, shutting down any attempt for her to follow it up with a back facing heat smash

It's common for Lings to go into it after a heat engager because of the plus frames she'll have, so this set up is super predictable and can be seen coming a mile away

Why mash out heat if I can step and launch and THEN use heat in the juggle? That seems like a huge loss of potential dmg?

I can understand nerfing Panda/kuma cause that 1, 2 caused insane chip damage.
Jun getting a buff? Unless they nerfed her tracking this is a horrible choice!
WHY IS KING GETTING BUFFED?! EVERYONE HATES PLAYIING AGAINST KING!
Xiaoyu getting nerfed only makes sense if they increase the speed of her attacks.
I'm shocked Alisa got a buff since she is one of my mains. She was already a powerhouse.
Yoshimitsu nerfed? Why?! He felt balanced.

There's a few lows she can go under on some frame perfect timings such as Hwoarang d3,4 but lows in general will hit her.

A lot of mids hit normal AoP, it's nowhere near 99%
Nope Knee tested it and posted on X PhiDX made video about it recently if i recall
